Heres what i know of by heart of the c'tan:

Deviever:
-Responsable for tricking the necrontyr into becoming necrons
-Also planted the pariah gene inside humans, cutting them off completely from the warp and making them utterly souless.
-Is currently active, and the weakest, yet smartest of the four c'tan.

Nightbringer:
-Did battle with Khaine, the eldar god of war. Forced Khaine to take on his present form of the avatars
-Its rage upon his defeat at the hands of Khaine implanted the fear of death in every living thing save the orks, prevented the eldar from being able to reincarnate, and also gave all sentient species the image of itself as the face of death (grim reaper)
-Is also currently active, and the most powerful in combat of all the c'tan. not the strongest overall though.

The outsider:
-Was tricked by the eldar laughing god into consuming the other c'tan. by absorbing them into itself, the outsider became utterly insane, with shards of the other c'tans personality fragmenting its mind and distorting its body.
-Was somehow imprisoned within a dyson sphere (large metal sphere surrounding a sun), creating a warp anomaly which even the tyranids avoided.
-Its unknown if its still in stasis, awake but imprisoned, or completely active, just not sighted yet.

The void dragon:
-Rumoured to be the most powerful c'tan, with a special affiliation with technology. Its warriors were reported as sending arcs of lightning hurling across the battlefield.
-Was defeated by the eldar god vaul, who then imprisoned the void dragon in stasis underneath a mountain. Ledgend says that this was on mars, and that the void dragon is really the machine god.
-Currently in stasis, although there may have been signs of awakening.

And those are the only four c'tan still in existance. Thats all i know by memory. most of the info can be found in a combo in the necron codexes, although hints at the c'tan are found in most GW publications. for example, certain imperial assasins carry c'tan phase swords, do they not? along with another assasin (or maybe the same one, i dont know) who has the same effect on mortals as pariahs do.

some food for thought. enjoy.

Excellent writeup.

The old codex must have different stories than the new one. The new one's stories are like reading a story of riddles. Or ill mention something only once through out the codex very briefly.

Correct: Nightbringer was not the one who shattered Khaine into the avatars, but it was during the fall. That's still the fault of chaos. For now.

I think that's a tad misleading.

There is no "legend" that says Dragon is on Mars. It is rumoured he is on Mars, and it is rumoured he might be linked with the Omnissiah... but for every piece of evidence that Dragon is the Machine God, it could easily be dismissed as the ravings of a flagellant lunatic.

True, the Necrons fought to get ships down on the Martian surface, but we still don't know why.

i think i read somewhere that abbadon did a ritual or something involving corpses and lots of blood, to find out what was on mars, it didn't actually say anything but he started to laugh manically.
