Default Quick army evaluation?

Alright, this is what I have finally settled on after days of redoing it. This should be balanced but still have a supporting element to every unit (eg. destroyers, heavy destroyers, and destroyer lord w/ res orb. or Warriors, Immortals, lord w/ res orb and VoD). This got a -3 on wargamers powergaming test and i like it but advice is always appriciated. I belive that this comes to 2000 points. Thnx

Sincerly,

It all depends on how you use them, but I have to say, Destroyers

I will be primarily playing against Tau but should I take flayed ones instead? I sure do hear people say that wraiths fall easily and against railguns and everything else? Maybe even a tomb spyder or two, gives me some scarabs and WBB on H-Destroyers? Thnx

Hmm, playing Tau you are going to need speed and range. I would add more destroyers, and keep them hidden so that you don't lose them first round ^^

As for the flayed ones? If you can get them into CC, they will do awesome, but getting them there is the problem. If you are going to take them, I would defentally infiltrate them into some cover, and bring enough so that you will not lose the whole squad first round.

Wraiths really don't die fast to any specific gun, it's simply the volume of shots that will bring them down. Their save is invunerable, so it's the volume of shots that you really should fear. You defentally need to keep them out of rapidfire range, as I found out aganist IG. The guardsmen needed 4+ then 5+ to wound, and then I would get my 3+ save. Of course when you have 100 rapidfire shots comming your way, you are going to start rolling a few 1/2's.

Tomb spiders are defentally a nono aganist the Tau, given they are all shooty I would suggest not using them.

Here is a tactica that was written a while back that would be of use for you I believe, it gives tips on beating the Tau.
The Red Harvest Tau is the second tactica I believe.

Default Q

Thanks all, I will be playing a player with no experience and about a month with his(a.k.a. my) codex so it won't quite as big of an issue. Also he thinks that 5 shots from a big gun will bring down more shots than a 100 pulse rifles(?????) even though pulse rifles will pummel me!

I was thinking along the same lines. He was talking about taking 2 squads of 3 broadsides and a Hammerhead w/ ion cannon . I am thinking that this should terrify me, right!? What do people think about taking 5 or 6 pariahs for the sole purpose of counter attacking and more gauss blaster fire?

How does this line up look? The destroyers would move up one of the flanks looking like either a big scary spread out mass or indiscriminate fragments w/ the walking formation looking much scarier.
