I have been thinking of starting Necrons and was wondering what would be a decent well rounded 1000pt Necron army list. I'm already planning to buy the Battleforce and a lord and I was wondering what other stuff to buy to make it 1000pts. (I'm not new to the hobby...just new to Necrons. I've played Demonhunters, and Orks.)

Well, at least you need 20 warriors and a Lord (with orb, quite honest)
this would make up a nice 500 points

from there on, you can choose wether you want CC or firepower
More warriors, to build up your core and lower the phase-out danger, or immortals/destroyers for more firepower.

As Sjoerd said, the first 500 points must be 20 necron warriors and a necron lord. This includes ressurrection orb, which, although some dislike it, is probably the most useful peice of equipment in the world. (2 squads of ten necron warriors are generally best from my experience) Next you are open to everything else in the codex...Another Hq choice is off the table, in my opinion, because together 2 don't really contribute to your firepower enough to justify a total of 200-400 points. I would recommend waiting until you are making a 1500 point force for elites-mainly because immortals are very expensive, pariahs are questionably useful (and aren't necrons), and flayed ones, if one wants to use them, don't strengthen the core of the force(a ton of firepower). For troops I would recommend another ten man unit, for the firepower of three squads combined is brutal (and phase out prevention is always good) Fast attack contains some of the best units in the codex. Destroyers in particular are a must have-definitely take at least one squad of three. Wraiths are very useful, but they can be a horrible points waste if not used correctly. Combined with their cost, I would hold off on them until at least 1500 points. Scarabs can be useful units as well, but they, like flayed ones, stray from the initial purpose of the army. At 1000 points, you should be looking to build a a powerful and survivable base, later on you can branch out. Don't take any heavy support units yet. The monolith is too many points for this sized army, heavy detroyers don't give off enough shots, and tomb spyders, once again, weaken your firebase. If you were to use everything I've said so far this would look like this:

total:830

With the remaining 170 points I would recommend taking either 6 extra warriors(2 for each squad) and a veil of darkness on the lord or another squad of three destroyers and some random equipment on the lord.

You don't have to do this, but I suggest this list because it provides a really strong base which you can build on.

Yes, you'll probably need only around about 3 Wraiths.
You can also add some Immortals if you want and some flayed ones for Melee combat.
