I'm playing Necrons in a 2000 point game at 1:00pm this Sunday (United States, east coast time) against what will likely be a 150+ model ork army. I will be fielding:

1 Lord, vod

20 Warriors
20 Warriors
20 Warriors

4 Destroyers
4 Destroyers
10 Scarabs

1 Monolith

Total 1995 points
I might drop two warriors to take the resurrection orb. My plan is to deploy in a phalanx and just turkey shoot the Ork hordes by warping my units out of combat.

Our mission was to get the most number of scoring units into the opponents deployment zone. 15 inch deployment zones on each side.

thats 1950 points and I stopped right there. I could have thrown in some more scarabs but I only have 22 bases and didn't take the remaining two.

Some of you already know that the Orks are not allowed to include more than one unit of 'ARD BOYS per army but I didn't know this. The shop owner informed us of this in the middle of turn two. We agreed to continue to play by downgrading him to the correct composition which chopped about 500 points off of his list.

I had no trouble killing the Ork units with my 500pt advantage but the game resulted in a draw. We each had one scoring unit in the enemy deployment zone. I've never rolled for missions before, I think i'd rather make a list already knowing what mission i am going to play than just being thrown into it. Uncertainty can be fun but to me it seems more realistic to plan for the battle you're getting into than to assume that random battalions are always being surprised.
