Default Dammit, I like Rap

Yeah, ever since I started college a few years ago, I've been exposed to a lot more music than I was back at home. Yes, some of it was rap. I've really been digging older gangsta stuff, like NWA, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie and other fairly newer stuff like Eminem and Tech N9ne. Political stuff like Immortal Technique and Jedi Mind Tricks are a must as well. Any other rap fans out here?

And yes, I'm still into metal. College has just seemed to expand my horizons.

I like older rap, and new hiphop. I can't get behind many of the more popular rap artists out nowadays because their music has nothing to it. It's just about sex and drugs and how much money they have.

To be honest, USAFTACP, most popular bands of every era sing about just that . However, I agree with you - I can't stand those kinds of songs. You just have to dig through all that and find the good stuff

I like a lot of modern hip hop - Flobots (one of my favorite all time bands), The Roots, Outkast, etc.
When it comes to straight rap, I also prefer the older stuff. But lately I've been listening to more hip hop than rap, as I find it's usually a bit more creative and interesting to listen to (although I like rap as well).

One thing I absolutely can't stand though? Auto-tune. Who the hell thinks it sounds good, and why?!?

I don't listen to much rap, but sometimes I can enjoy it. And appreciate it.
I prefer Hip Hop, and I love Australian hip hop. Like Flan Atlantic, TZU, Hilltop Hoods etc.

They never say anything nice...EVER

Get some Wu Tang if you havent already. Tha Alkoholiks aint bad, Fugeez are pretty decent too. Dre and Snoop's first couple of albums are great.

Run DMC and Public Enemy never had songs like that.

I like Hollywood undead, if they count.

Hell, I even liked most of Fred Durst's stuff and ICP....

and this makes me a pariah.

UK artists FTW. Specifically Dizzee Rascals first album. Never has a record sounded more bleak and unglamourus.

List fails due to lack of The Herd.

Also yeah generally when you go into college you stop being such an idiot (unless you join frats and sororities in which case....carry on) and start expanding your music tastes and become less wankerish about genres. I used to be only alternative and indie rock in high school but since uni I've started to listen to electro, house, ska and hip hop a fair bit as well.

Personally Immortal Technique and The Herd are my two favourites, otherwise Talib Kweli, Nas and a few others from the States are good.
