Default Lonely/Wargamer/Silk/Rafe

I'm the world's biggest hypocrite.

I'm ashamed to say, that, well, uh...

I like some Iron Maiden.

And Nightwish.

Yeah, that about sums it up. I've had Number Of The Beast stuck in my head, so I recently downloaded Run To The Hills, Where Eagles Dare, and The Trooper and like them all quite a bit (NotB the most, WED the least) so...although that's only four songs, I'm surprised at what I'm hearing. And liking.
I had previously thought that Iron Maiden was the kind of heavy metal filled with a grumbling and/or roaring singer, with a bass and guitar sounding like rattling machine guns.
I couldn't be more wrong.
Not only does the Maiden singer actually sing, but he has an amazing voice as well as great lyrics. The guitar riffs are really great, and overall I just love the sound of it. Not at all what I expected.
So yeah, my apologies, Wargamer Feel free to kick me or praise me, whichever suits you.

As for Nightwish...when Lonely tried to convert me in Chat, it didn't really work. I liked While Your Lips Are Still Red, but none of the other songs I heard. So, unlike Maiden, I actually gave them a shot before I shot them down :P
However, things have changed. Either it's an acquired taste, or I just got really unlucky in the songs I picked, but after hearing some more songs, I just bought Dark Passion Play on iTunes and I'm liking what I hear .
The Poet And The Pendulum is a great song - one of the reasons I bought the album is because I couldn't get PatP as a single. However, after hearing some of the other songs (I haven't finished listening to all of them yet, but I am as I type ) I don't regret buying this album in the slightest

So...add one to your ranks. Any recommendations for other Maiden/Nightwish songs? One of my biggest problems with Nightwish (and still is) is the singer(s), I think I like Annette a lot more than Tarja (don't shoot me :-X). At first, I was really put off by their accents, as well as their contrasting voice to the music that's playing (Tarja is almost like opera, while there's metal playing in the background) but as I said, it's grown on me. A lot.

Damn you, I say! Damn you all! I never thought I'd like this stuff! :

Well he's not here yet but I'll certainly kick you for thinking that Bruce Dickinson was a growler of all things.

No, it isn't, but it's very different, not something I'm used to. So it took a while for me to start to like them/her.

Feelings? Psssht. I don't believe you!
But if you want your name up there that bad, I guess you and Wargamer can duke it out, Mortal Kombat style...

Plus, you don't advertise your Maidenness nearly as much as the others I had no idea you were a fan :X (Oh, darn, now you're gonna kick me again, aren't you?)

Anyway, thanks, I'll look into that massive list :P

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!

Although to be fair I was exactly like 1shot1kill a while ago. I knew what Maiden sounded like, I just never thought I'd ever get into heavy metal at the time, I was a real blues purist... how wrong was I? 1shot1kill's inevitable slide into metal fandom has slowly and inexorably begun

Oh and 1shot1kill, I forgot that in my list of Maiden songs, Hallowed Be Thy Name should be in bold, itallics and underlined just for emphasis... It may not be my favourite Maiden song but it is undoubtedly the best.

Here I talk about the actual Nightwish albums themselves.

However lets look at some songs.
I know these have already been named, but just in case you haven't heard them already heres some youtube linkage:

Nemo
Beauty of the beast
Dead gardens
Wish I had an angel
Screw it - you can find the rest youself

However some that people decided to miss:

Ghost love score
The scapist Ie - the song that they missed. :funny:
Sleepwalker Excuse the vid
10th man down

Ah, another convert. Fantastic.

To second SILK - Ghost Love Score is one of my favourite songs, ever. The epic (and yes, it is an Epic) fits perfectly with the arcing story of one of my favourite ever set of novels - when I listen to GLS I am seeing the whole thing, the despair at the loss of their friends, and the hope that Elena will prevail.

Fantastic.

The Escapist as well, saddens me greatly it was not on the album, as it is fantastic.

I love them all, really, its hard to talk about my favourites
