Default Gaze upon my new guitar

After much saving and selling my body on the street, I have finally been able to get my beautiful Gibson 76' Xplorer. Im thinking about getting some closed coil pickups (most likely EMG-81s) to help 'brutal' up the tone. Its an amazing, beautiful instrument. My only real complaint is the unbelivable size of the case, making it impossible to take anywhere, but given the ackward shape of the guitar, its somewhat understandable.

Sweet guitar, the only way it could be better was if it was black.

But some of the best heavy metal riffs of our time were authored on a white Gibson explorer... Although it had some custom words on it. Words I can't say here. If you know what I'm talking about, then great. If not, I'm so sorry.

Anyways, yes, she's beautiful! I've gotten to play on a few, and I can tell you that putting EMGs in it is a brilliant idea. It'll definitely add some raw power into the mix.

Holy shit, nice. I'm more of a Les Paul or SG type (don't play, talking about pure aesthetics) myself, but the Explorer is still damn nice.

There's something undeniably attractive about explorers and this one is no exception. EMGs are a good way to go, but if you want something similar and maybe a bit more interesting I would go with Seymour Duncan Blackouts. Sweet axe man!

I honestly HATE the look of it. But then again I never was a fan of star shaped guitars. But I do know those put out some damn fine sounds.

I've never liked Explorer shaped guitars... i do really like the stars charvel had in the 80's though... But EMG's are like god... (Or at least compared to my other pickups, there are probably better ones ot there...) Also, it's very James Hetfeild like...

Yes, actually, it's basically his guitar. James plays Explorers almost exclusively; he's got a few flying Vs but those are custom jobs. His most famous white explorer has "Eat f***" on it, and it was his favorite for the first half of Metallica's career.

Actually, why don't you post the pickup specs you can get off the Gibson website because some of the pickups are really good. The ones I have in my Les Paul Classic are amazing, I would never dream of changing them out for EMGs (I'll put those in my Ibanez).
