Default What's with MCR?

I'm not much of a fan of new music, but another new band came up to me. I looked at their history, looked at their songs, a few were good, but the others weren't good.

Why do the have such a big crowd? Because they changed to a more emo? It's not all that great in the 1st place.......

I like them myself but I'm in the same boat man. I'm more of an System of a Down person myself and MCR appealed to me.

Pathetic. Nothing else I need to say; you should know plenty why.

I'm personally not a big fan... though I do listen to Fall Out Boy and O.K. Go and Muse and such.

I don't know about that. Everyone hates "emos", even the "emos" hate themselves...

I'm curious.

Anyway, I don't really like them. They could be better, but they aren't, so...eh. I don't like the imagery, either.

Meh, I knew someone would ask for an explanation. In my mind, their music is crap; all whiny songs about how their lives are horrible, wah wah wah. For example, some of the Lyrics to one of their songs:

Now come one come all to this tragic affair
Wipe off that makeup, whats in is despair
So throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot
You might wake up and notice you're someone you're not

If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see
You can find out firsthand what it's like to be me
So gather 'round piggies and kiss this goodbye
I'd encourage your smiles I'll expect you won't cry

AHHHHHH! AHHHHHH!
AHHHHHH! AHHHHHH!

Another contusion, my funeral jag
Here's my resignation, I'll serve it in drag
You've got front row seats to the penitence ball
When I grow up I want to be nothing at all!

I said yeah, yeah!
I said yeah, yeah!

C'mon C'mon C'mon I said
(Save me!) Get me the hell out of here
(Save me!) Too young to die and my dear
(You can't!) If you can hear me just walk away and
(Take me!)

Most of this is just them complaining about their multi-million dollar lives. Wow, thats a really hard life to live.

The other reason, and an even larger one, is how they're just another poppy "emo" band, subjected to media influence and MTV and the fashion industry. Their entire image is just a slimeball rip-off of some old punk stuff.

Bands like this, including ones such as Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park and such, all converge upon this. They're all just a bunch of media-induced pop bands that their recording companies want to come across as "hard-core." Please.

Anyone who could regard any of these bands with more respect than that deserved by a fruit fly, which sadly enough is the huge majority of teens today, has most likely just been brainwashed to assume that this is the equivalent of a hard punk band.

I, shall we say, dislike them... I do like "Teenagers", it has a nice beat, but otherwise I really don't like them.

I won't go into it though, my smite was for MCR bashing (deserved, mind).

I dunno, at least in the UK, there is a hell of a lot of focus on indie bands. We are getting tons of different styles being produced, its quite varied and quite nice.

I never understand this, FoB disliking. They never appear to be like the New LP, or Green Day, instead FoB never seem to try and come across as "hardcore" or "unique" they just seem to want to produce, and sell their music, bands like Green Day are totally different to this. Ah well, I'll understand it someday.

Personally, I really like a lot of their older stuff, it is actually pretty good. The Black Parade album is awful, however.
