I find some of their music enjoyable, but a lot of their stuff I don't like, its pretty hardcore bad. Toxicity the album is my favourite by them I guess, I don't find it too screamy and stuff. But a lot of their other albums are just continual swearing with some references to drugs and hookers. If your dad didn't like toxicity......he definately will hate everything else by them, from what I remember, that song is pretty light for them.
cheers

when i was in middle school i got into the whole punk scheme and I listened to System of a Down and other various punk metal bands. I can see why your dad doesent like it. My parents didn't like it either. When Highschool came I grew out of that and started to listen to music that I actually loved and and not just because it was considered cool.

If you liked Toxicity by them then listen to Chop suey. Thats their biggest hit song. and as the dude said above me Toxicity was their best album made in a general opinion. They have a newer song B.Y.O.B. to that you might like

Eh... BYOB isn't that great.

But yeah, Chop Suey is a great song by them! So is Aerials, I recommend it!

Not a fan of System of a Down, sure I like heavy music but the lyrical content just didn't do it for me. I don't care if the cocaine is making you feel like you're on this song or if you are anti-bush, I want to hear something serious...

Well, I would consider that sort of serious....but I get your point, the whole, I am going to go do some cocaine then buy some hookers so I can get some awesome STD's, isn't my cup of tea either.
cheers

Heya - I was a major system of a down fan a while back. Until they brought out mezmerise and Hypnotise. They should have put hte good stuff onto one CD and thrown the other out the window.

But I digress. Get hold of the "toxicity" album. Aeriels is a fantastic song. No screaming, just good power behind the song. Get a hold of "steal this album" - it's got a load of songs that they didn't haveroom for on Toxicity and is my favourite album.

But don't bother with Mesmerise or Hypnotise - there are a few half-decent songs, but it is nothing like the political system of a down of yester year.
