Default more tau allies

Why is it that in the codex there are so many allies of the tauthat are part iof the empire, but never appear on the battle field. I think it is a bit strange that only 2 are used, and that only 1or 2 others are mentioned ever. they should create more races to go with the tau

As it turns out, my ideas are pretty good, and usually succeed. if not, they are an epic event. that's what she said.

You say i and my army look beat up? You should see the other army. the terminator is gonna be crying about more than just hurt feelings

The kroot and vespid are simply the most commonly seen one followed by the Gue'vesa.

2 more races, Nicassar and Demiurg, are to be found in Battle fleet Gothica. They are Auxiliaries to the Air caste.

The Tarrelian<spelling> are a race of lizard man allied to the Shas they were mentionned and a picture of them appears in the 3rd ed rulebook.

You can always do a few house rules race too though.

Boneguard, can you provide the location of these units, if they exist in any codex, or are they just fluff?

Demiurg and Nicassar are in battle fleet gothic. The others are fluff.

Remember the Tau are only just starting to expand in the galaxy, they have to find
1. Allies they can communicate with
2. Allies that are willing to fight with them
3. Allies that can adapt and embrace the greater good
4. Non-chaos taint
5. They need Ewoks!.... highly trained men in special armour are easily killed if you have Ewoks!

I actually used this fact in the codex to make my own pathfinders out of spare Lizardmen Saurus, never knew they actually had a kind of lizardmen in the Empire.

@Foxxy

Interesting. I did something similar. I took Sauri, shaved the headcrest and the spine spikes (giving him a smooth head and back) and used a kroot rifle without the blades for my tarrelian

They look good.

I use various alien models such as the star wars, d&d and Dr Who minitures. Slap a spare pulse weapon and a shoulder pad on them, repaint to suit your scheme and suddenly more aliens trained to fight as "counts as" fire warriors for the Greater Good.

Admiral Akbar and Greedo fight alongside Skinks, Hobbits and regular Tau in my force. About 5-10% of my army is made up of these extras and I like the idea of some of the smaller alien colonies being indoctrinated into the caste system over time so that they would add more bodies to fill the ranks after the recent losses durign the third phase expansion.

Wookies and other feral looking creatures get spare kroot rifles and join the Kroot packs.

I reckon as the Tau develop we will see some more... you know as the fluff develops and the Empire expands... watch out Imperium.

One thing I would like to see is Gue'vesa (Human mercenaries) some new 'Tau-ish' adaptations of guard maybe, and some rules to go with them. That would be cool.

Please follow our spelling rules. Proper capitalization and punctuation is mandatory.

Some people have already tried to model some more auxiliaries. I found an interesting article about alternative models. Note the links to Naga'la and Shea'Shi auxiliaries at the top of the article. I especially like the Shea'Shi conversion. Both auxiliary races are used as ordinary Fire Warriors.

The article comes from Advanced Tau Tactica forums, but I was given approval by Boneguard to post it. HERE it is.
