Default Anyone else notice this? [Kroot mercs]

The very first page of the entry in the chapter aproved 2004 annual says that "The following armies may NOT make use of kroot mercenaries:
Space Marines, Necrons, Sisters of Battle, Tau, Tyranids."

Hang on! Tau can't use kroot mercs?! can anyone make sence of why the only race that contains kroot in there society can't use them?

Because the Kroot don't want the Tau to know they are still mercing around, and the Tau probably turn a blind eye to keep the Kroot sweet.

The Tau and Kroot are not allies; they are business partners.

A large chunk of the Kroot think the Tau are a bunch of Communist bastards who are trying to enslave the Kroot race. As such, there's no way in hell they are going to do anything that might enhance the "Greater Good".

That is why Kroot Mercenaries from the "Kroot Codex" cannot be taken in a Tau army; the Kroot who will fight for the Tau already have entries in the Tau Codex!

Just because the Tau believe something does not make it true. Indeed, the phrase "it's funny because we're clueless" seems to be printed in large font somewhere inside the Tau Design Manual.

in the old ways, kroot (perhaps a fragment of what is now) pledged unflinching loyalty to the Tau (tribesman honor: debt of repayment) because they would have died otherwise.

but as kroot repopulated, they soon came to realize they were growing stagnant on what the tau were sending them to eat.

So tribes in disagreement (or perhaps more different tribes settled out) decided to settle out west, and findz them some internet (I mean food)

in the process factions of the kroot are differentiated to their best interests. But factions of kroot work with the tau because it is more beneficial then as opposed to.

The tau probably know...but what good would killing them be?

-----

Ive only really known 1 story(2 if you count dawn of war dark crusade) of kroot eating the corpses of chaos. They in turn went against the tau. But kroot (still ok) would hunt them down, in league with firewarriors.

I heard it a bit differently...
Apparently, what the Kroot were eating with the Tau, was leading them on a one-way path to becomming something they didn't want to become (which is what pepsi said). So they sent out mercs to fight alongside other races, under the noses of the Tau, to collect food from different parts of the galaxy to keep their natural-ish shape (what we see on their sprues).
However, about the tribes thing, I think it's true that some Kroot turned from the Tau, and fought with other forces, as this is a good reason why when the kroot fight the tau, the tau don't get upset with the loyalists.

yet even if some factions of kroot turned against the tau, Tau wouldnt be in their best interest to kill the remaining loyal kroot.

However when kroot present an enemy threat, they dont hesitate to fire. Hell the kroot get in on the action to.

Thats the same kind of justification the British used for enslaving Africans. "They arn't cultured, so we can give them our culture". Many Kroot will reject this idea, as happened in almost every real life example where one race of people decided they had an authority to cast judgement on the value of another culture of civilisation. Those kroot that do reject it fight in the kroot merc list.

Effectively what you have in the Tau codex is "Uncle Tom Kroot"

My subtle diagram disagrees with you.
your "subtle" diagram contains Optimus Prime and Proffessor Farnsworth, it's heresy in it's own right!
Any similarities between your reality and mine are purely coincidental...
