Default [Kroot Mercs] Thinking about starting?

So, I've been reading about Kroot and such and am thinking of doing an army of them once I'm done my WH/DH's.

Any ideas? Good points/bad points etc.

I worked up a list for them, but haven't tried it. I've heard they're nasty, and they have some very cool special abilities (4+ save against a flamer, anyone?). The hardest part I found was including enough stuff that can pierce any decent armor. You can give each shaper a big gun of some sort, but other than that it would take the entire army to get rid of a squad of terminators!

It's true, they can't puncture high armour very well, but the point of them is to have fun! I find an Eviserator in each squad increases their survivability quite well. Also giving a Plasma gun or Meltagun to the Master Shaper is a good idea. That helps with armour punching.

Also, giving them the extra abilities is a good idea. The only ones I think are worth it is the Ork Hybrid one (A bit pricey, but worth it to keep your Shapers alive from S6 and S7 weapons), and the Quick Reflexes. The rest of them are just OK. And taking the Blood of the Stalker in almost every squad is wonderful. And Surefoot Charms and Hyperactive Nymune Organs for those that can take them help out a lot.

Yes...or sort of. There is a C.A list in the sticky thread and a larger codex made by a Yahoo/MSN group called Kompletely Kroot. The latter can easily be found with a quick google search. I'd go for the C.A list, as it is more well known and aimed more at the Kroot being mercinaries and less as Sioux-like hunters.

Personally though, they'll have a hard time gnawing through a Land Raider or a Xenos equivalent, and you'll have to get down on your hands and knees to convert, because most of their army choices need at least a head swap.

Meanwhile however, they're fiendishly fun to play (so I hear), so I think you should go for it.

mounted great knarloc herd! infiltrating flying kroot! true, the only thing you'l use to punch through armour will be evicerators (and meltaguns in your shaper council). i took ork hybrid. the only problem i found is a lack of numbers T-T
