Default kroot, an uncanny resemblance

HI

* As i was looking into kroot mercs, and was looking at the models more closely, it struck me that they have an uncanny resemblance to a certain few magic cards that were in the portal (starter) series. So I looked the cards up, and what I thought was true, they are very close in looks. I just thought this was interesting, here is a link to the cards, tell me what you think."

Look at the nightstalker engine, prowling nightstalker, and lurking nightstalker.

I always thought that the tau looked sort of like the battle droids from star wars phantom menace. Just the fire warriors and the hammer head. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

Especially since basically the entire basis of WH40K came from an earlier, older game called Laserburn...

wow cannot believe you all sunk to a new low...first off you have no hard evidence that they saw that card when designing the kroot and second you have no proof to when the card was produced.* To get to where GW is today they must have come up more than one orignal idea considering the amount of books, games and other merchandise they pump out. Stop being disgruntle and poking holes through a game you all obviously love (you wouldn;t be on these forums if you didn;t).

1995 , as the card set dates.

Hyena031, No offence but you're taking this a bit too much to heart, it's as far as I can see just a little joke, we know that while it looks like they've taken anothers idea we know that deep down, they haven't...... as much as I don't like saying it coincedences do happen.

Besides I think in all fairness the GW Kroot look a lot better ;D

Actually, I'm going to go ahead and say that GW has ripped off a lot of things.

But who hasn't?

Honestly, there's really nothing wrong with ripping off or copying/altering what has been already done, and if you think about it, it's unavoidable. So what if the kroot are jacked from a 12 year-old Magic card? I still like the way they look. So what if 40k is a rip-off of Laserburn? 40k is still around, Laserburn isn't.

Hell, go see a movie in the theaters. I can promise you that there is nothing new out there. Everything takes from something else. It's called "influence" and "artistic liscence" and all of that good stuff.

So, in essence, yes, it happens, and no, it's not the end of the world.
