Default Eldritch Raiders

I'm trying to learn more about Eldritch Raiders, and have much questions about them. I plan to play this team once my eldar list is done.

What kind of army are they? Speedy? Firepowery? Hand-to-handy?

Are they expensive to make? Are they a high cost or low cost army?

What are they good at killing?

Eldritch Raiders are alot like Craftworlders without the big toys - they do get Wraithlords, but I'm realy partial to fielding War Walkers instead. You have to rely on an Infantry-heavy force to win the day, with Vypers and Venoms for backup.

The biggest selling point of Eldritch Raiders is versatility - you can make your HQ into a Farseer-like character, or an Autarchy CC model that will put his Craftworld equiviliant to shame.

Also look at things like Dragon Squads - picture Dire Avengers with True Grit, throw in the weapons options of a Guardian Storm Squad, and additionally give one bloke a Power Fist and another a Brightlance.

Diversity and individuality is where the Eldritch Raiders shine.
  • They can be played in a variety of ways, from shooty to combat-based, but I tend to lean towards firepower as their biggest sell.
  • They're actually cheaper than most Craftworld armies to make, and the figures are often interchangable between the two.
  • Set the list up right, and you can tackle anything.

True grit only effects bolters so unless in the online codex it specifically says it applies to their gun (presumabley a shuriken weapon) then a RAW freak won't let you, but then again a RAW freak probably wouldn't let you use them.

I called it True Grit because almost nobody but an Eldritch Raider player has heard of Switch-Grips, which is what they use. Duel-wielding a Shuriken Catapult and Shuriken Pistol, using the True Grit rules with the Catapult to represent it.

Like Novae said; the actual rule is called "Switch-grip", but it works like True Grit.

Yes, about true grit, I thought I knew what it was, isn't it you get +1 attack as long as you don't charge? I thought it meant you get +1 attacks. Are there any different exotic weapons?

True Grit/Switch-Grips gives +1A with the type of weapon, at the cost of no bonus attack from charging.

Plenty of exotic gear, they're Pirates after all... stuff like Hand-Flamers, Jokaero Digital Weapons, Riveblades, and Conversion Fields are commonplace.
