Default new Harlequins Kiss; good or bad?

I was somewhat unhappy with the changes made to the Harlequins Kiss,

the old rules were that you wounded on 2+ and and 6's to wound would kill multiwound models outright should they fail their save.

the new rules are that they are simply rending.

it is the rending I am unhappy about, not because I do not like rending (quite the opposite) but because as eldar are only str 3, without the wound on 2+ rule, they now have less chance of wounding their target.

so vote away, and tell of your opinion of the new Harlequins Kiss rules.

I like them. They're nice and streamlined and fitting for the weapon. They make the harlequins really nasty because they won't just bounce off of high armour save value units.

Remember that on the Charge Harlequins will be strength 4, meaning they're going to be wouding most things on at least a 4+.

I like the new version. Before they were just way too powerful.

I hate it. The old Harlequins Kiss was a fantastic weapon... it was essentially a Witchblade, but with an added potential to "instant kill" your opponent!

From a non-harlequin player point of view I think it was way overpowered. Harlequin point of view I would take on all I could, Lol

The old kiss was decidedly sub-par in that it allowed the opponent an armour save. Sure, you could put a lot of wounds out, but against 3+ save armies, it just didn't do enough. Plus, under the old rules, I believe you were only allowed to take two per squad.

The new kiss is absolutely devastating. Rending is one of the most powerful mechanics in the game. But, more importantly, the whole squad can take them. 40 rending attacks will put seven automatic, armour-ignoring wounds on anything, and then you get all your other hits too.

In fact, the risk with harlequins now is that they're too good at wiping things out. Ideally, you clear your kill zone on turn 1, and remain locked in combat with your opponent during their turn. But the new harlequins are so killy that you have to be really careful with your charges so as not to get left in the open.

It wasn't quite like that, it was just that the Harlequin Troupe (the harlies troop choice) only had the option to take two (but you can upgrade the troupe leader to have one meaning you could have three), you may have meant this but it almost inscinuates in the way that you said it that there was a 0-2 harly kiss limit per squad.

The Eldar are partially balanced by their low strength and toughness. The less loopholes they have to escape from that, the better.

I'm sorry, but did someone call the real Harlequin's Kiss "sub-par"?

Oh dear me... Clearly, you've never used it right.

Take the scene; my Harlies are fighting Tyranids. One squad gets in a really messy combat involving a Tyrant, and needing to break Synapse, I attack with a 30pt model (Harlequin with Kiss).

I score three hits. All wound. One of these was a Six. That one got through his 3+ Save, and thus the Tyrant died instantly.

Remind me again why Rending is better than that?
