It did have special scenarios for Assassins... but no Assassin-army.

I seriously suggest the Vindicare scenario, if you can get the Codex.

Sounds good the vindicare is my fav model too
I hate that model and the rules.
It is waaaay to powerful, and not as expensive (pt wise) for what it does.

Too powerful? It's the weakest Assassin out there! Stupidly expensive, and not really very reliable.

But it still scares the enemy and that's definitely useful. If you can convince somebody that their HQ isn't safe even in CC from a sniper its great fun getting them to come after him. And he is one of my favorite models to boot. He even killed a land raider once! (two fives, one six, followed by a six on the penetrating...don't ask me how it happened...one of my most glorious moments.)

I am kind of disappointed they can't be brought with any imperial army anymore.

There was one game where you have and assasin and you try and kill the HQ

There was another game where you have the sniper assasin and the enemy doesn't know where he is because you mark his location on a sheet of paper and he tries to kill as many as possible.

Actually, he can! If you bring just one measly inquisitor, you can field an assassin (Dhunter rules)

Yeah but that's still a 30ish (or whatever) point add-on to the cost of the assassin. I suppose its not terrible but not nearly as cool as before.

Well, it costs 20 points, but then you can make the inquisitor stupidly expensive, then you have to buy the assassin. Honestally, I perfer the codex

There used to be one at the store near here, never thought to pick it up though.
