Where did you get that? The most recent mention of the Wolf Scouts I've found has actually been in the Space Wolves series, particularly the book Ragnar's Claw if I remember right in the begining and end of the book where King depicts Ragnar as a Wolf Lord. The Wolf Blade are more like exiles.

I thought scouts were more of the "lone wolf" types who scout out the enemy rather than work in a pack.

The Wolf Blades are an honor guard and while some are exiles they can return to the fang in time. And some are just great warriors like the guy Ragnar replaced

Well Scouts do work in packs, and they aren't fresh recruits that's for sure. They are an enigma, a mystery, there is not a lot known about them excpet that they are skilled and specialised enough to be under the personal command of the Great Wolf alone. That's gotta be worth something.

As for the Wolf Blade, they generally all are exiles in one form or another, sent to the Wolf Blade either as punishment, because of personal failures, or because their just plain... odd. Such as with Haegre and Torin. All "exiles" in a sense but not all necessarily there because of some great crime.

Alright everybody, thanks to Beef, Berasse and Quillen over on the B&C I've added info on the 2nd Battle for the Fang, extended the information on Ulrik the Slayer, and added Kyrl Grimblood, Wolf Guard Ranulf, Wolf Guard Durfast and Njal Stormcaller, making slight ammendations where necessary (such as the Space Wolves not having recruit scouts but forming recruits into Blood Claw packs for instance where Njal is concerned). Some of the older material is difficult to put to use but certianly very interresting. Such as Wolf Guard Ranulf, now that's just bad a**. Sorry it took so long I've had a lot to do to prepare for going home for Thanksgiving... including finding and packing up all my models... like all 400 of them... yikes.

So anyway there it is and I think... think that might be everything I need to include... maybe...

Regarding Space Wolf Scouts they are the remnants of Packs (Grey Hunters I believe) that due to battlecasulties have been reduced to single marines - These burly characters then form small covert elite units operating months or years behind enemy lines doing sabotage missions - and working without updated orders from the HQ but due to their individuel experience manage this guerilla-like warfare plastering valuable enemy depots in melta-charges.

In the novel Wolf's Honour Ragnar meet the 13th company and descriptions and names can be found (last 6 chapters of the book) - These guys have fought alongside Russ and still lives...

For Russ and the Allfather!!!

Wolf Scouts are part of the Great Wolf's Great Company, apart from that I know no source saying they're remnants of packs.

Yes I know, this is simply not the finished version of the Article, this is. As you can see information from Wolf's Honour was included. I simply haven't gotten around to editing in all the new information to this version of the article as the formatting is different and a pain in the rear to reformat.
