Hi guys,

I've been a fan of Warhammer since I was a kid, and a mere 12 years after I read my first White Dwarf I've begun my collection of Tau.

So I'm COMPLETELY new to the game, and looking to start fighting. At the moment, I have a box of firewarriors (poorly painted, I spent ages looking at techniques on the t'interweb and i'm just amazed at the skill of you guys) and a piranha.

I'm looking to buy a battleforce box in order to have some units to play with. I figured i'd post some sample army lists just to see if i'm on the right track (I've looked in the forum rules and not seen any items saying you can't post army lists so I hope I'm not breaking any ettiqute).

With my current models + battleforce box set I think I can make the following:

500 point list

Commander (Fireknife spec (I think))
multi tracker
gun drone
= 124 points

Troops 1
10 firewarriors
1 shas'ui
= 120 points
Troops 2
10 firewarriors
Devilfish + disruption pod
= 185 points
Fast attack
Piranha + fusion blaster + disruption pod
= 70 points

Thats my 499 point army. My limited knowledge of the game is that firewarriors shoot most things, piranha is on tank killer + harrassing duty and commander jumps to where he's most needed.

The 750 list simply adds 1 firewarrior to each squad, gives both shas'uis with markerlights and target locks, equips the piranha with 2 seekermissiles (the idea being he flies round to the side of tanks to exploit the weaker armour), a squad of four gun drones and adds 3 stealth suits with a markerlight drone.

I appreciate this is a long post so thanks for reading. Any tips on painting would be most useful, it seems to go against the grain to assemble then paint, especially with the tanks, now its assembled i've got no idea how to paint the panels on the inside of the piranha, let alone its crew.

Incidentally, I'm trying to work my army around the units i'll have, and also I ruined my very first model, so my first box only consists of 11 firewarriors and 2 gun drones. Also how would u mod the Shas'uis to have markerlights? Is one of the arms on the sprue supposed to be one? I thought the i could stick a grenade on the top of a carbine to get it to look a LITTLE like the pathfinder ones...

looks like you know what your doing which is good.
if you post you models in the showcase section I'm sure that everyone will only be to happy to suggest tips for improving your painting and color schemes.
