Default Greetings tauists!

Well, hello everyone! My name is Hakan and I'm from Sweden, just registered at this site. I'd like to compliment you first on the nice site, seems like there is a lot of useful information to find here. Also this community seems to be friendlier and nicer than many others I've come across. Has anyone else noticed this, are Tau players friendlier in general?

Anyway, i don't currently own a 40k army. I used to own about 1500 pts of eldar but that was a few years ago. I stopped playing for quite a while, so i sold all my miniatures (including 2 fantasy armies). I bought some Empire (fantasy) though and i'm currently painting them and starting to play again. I'd also like to get some 40k models, for painting, modelling and eventually playing. I do like the Tau models a lot, they've got a whole lot of variety between the units and i like that.

If i used to enjoy playing Eldar a lot, would i also enjoy playing Tau?

What i liked most about Eldar was the variety of the army and also the specific uses for most of the units. They've got brilliant close combat units, brilliant shooting, good psykers etc. Tau has no psykers that i'm aware of, right? Are kroot really any useful in close combat etc?

Thanks and well met.

Welcome Bakalla, enjoy your stay.
Tau and eldar are two very different armies.
Tau are shooty, eldar are very specialised.
But I have both armies and I enjoy using both of them so I don't see why you would'nt enjoy playing Tau.

The 10 9 Commandments of God What a newbie of Tau Online should do and the Temporary 10th Commandment:
1. Thou must read the rules
2. Thou must use of proper grammar and spelling; use the spell checker
3. Thou shall not spamming unless it's here ;D
4. Thou shall be polite; don't flame people 8)
5. Thou shall not resurrect old topics; necromancy is heresy of the highest level here in TO :-\

6. Thou shall not double post; use the 'Modify Message' button to edit your post ^-^
7. Thou shall use the Search function to find a topic first before putting up a new one :P
8. Thou must read the stickies of the various Boards first
9. Thou shall not create 'X vs Y' thread or anything of that sort; it's a spawn pool for flames
10. Thou shall offer alcohol to The All-father

Hey and welcome to Tau Online. Ya, Tau Online is looking great and it's wealth of information on various things makes it going head-to-head with other sites like Warseer, Librarium Online and such. It's not that the Tau players are friendlier in general. I think because this forum maintains a high standard of forum~ing and the Admins and Mods usually perma-ban or the very least give them anyone who's acting out of bounds a warning. Also, we got a good number of non-Tau players, me included.

If you like Eldar, I guess you will love Tau also but read their codex first to see whether their unit is to your liking. Yes, Tau has no psyker and Kroot is both good at both Shooting and CC.

Hope to see you around

No! Do not play Tau! The Blood angels are much more like the Eldar (w/o skimmers...) and free online codex!
