Default Greetings from Norway! :)

Hi there everybody

I'm a Norwegian gamer who just decided to get into Warhammer 40K, and the Tau was the army that attracted me the most. I have been a gamer for close to 20 years, and Warhammer has always been something that has been present in the different gaming communities that I have frequented over the years. As a avid roleplayer, I never was anything but a spectator to the many Fantasy and 40K matches I have witnessed. It always had a "draw", but when I was younger, all the assembling and painting put me off.

I play and gm a lot of different rpg's and after learning that there was a 40K roleplaying game on the way I started looking into that and loved the feel of the setting. I also play the Warhammer rpg, and soon found my self looking into the tabletop games again.

In addition to rpg's I also played Warzone (the tabletop game based on the rpg Mutant Chronicles) many years ago, and did quite a lot of painting and modding back then, but the game died and I did not find myself wanting to do something similar until now. I also am heavily into Heroclix and Horrorclix (no smart comments please, they are great games ;D). And was attracted to those because of the pre-painted figures and fast gameplay.

Now I find I need new challenges, and what better to get into than one of the Warhammer tabletop games, I had a hard time deciding between Fantasy and 40K (I looked into the Wood Elf's for Fantasy), but finally decided on 40K and the Tau. Main reasons for this was that it seems to be the kind of gameplay that I enjoy (lots of ranged combat, and "hit and run" tactics), and that I like the look of the army. I also love that they are mostly in plastic, as I learned to hate metal minis back when I played Warzone.

So I have bought the Rulebook, Tau Codex and Collector guide, and a Tau battle force + lots of paint and brushes, and I'm sitting looking a bit lost at all those sprues, trying to build up enough courage to start assembling my army (it all seems a bit overwhelming right now).

I'm just putting it of a little bit longer by writing this post ......

Best regards
Rune

Ok ;D, Thanks for your welcoming worlds.

I have finally assembled 4 fire warriors and a drone, and am currently in the process of painting them. I'm going with the typical tau "desert camo" scheme, as that is one of the things that attracted me to the tau in the first place.

Also I have started pondering what to get next (haven't even painted one squad, and now I'm thinking about buying more ), I have gone trugh the units on the GW website and think I might go with a XV88 Broadside for some heavy support, I also like the look of the "Pathfinders", but several threads I have read seem to suggest that they are not very good.

Any advice?

Rune

well, I don't play Tau but my Eldar have always mowed those pathfinder panseys down like corn. The broadside is a bit static for The Tau aesthetic so I'm gonna point you in the direction of the Crisis suits, not $-points effeicient as some others but in many ways $-fun efficient.

that said would you like some blood cookies?
