I was wondering where i should start with DH... i've currently got about 1000 points of Harakoni Guard, and thought that the best way to start into DH would be allies, then building up an army from there. Any suggestions on what to get first, and maybe even some tactics with the allies?

![]() First of all, let's begin with introducing you to what the Daemonhunters are, the Grey Knights, and just how they plug into your Guard as an ally. Know Thy Self - Easy to navigate, you should find anything you need to know it terms of knowing your codex. Grey Knight Troops - Configurations - Something useful to better introduce you to the basic trooper. Now in general, the Guard are excellently paired with Grey Knights, both as the parent or the inducted option. Grey Knights add that powerful close combat, scary super unit touch to the Guard that can really be nice. Plus, it's just fluffy that the Grey Knights appear, whip out the real threat and go off, while the Guard keep watch and keep things under control for them to accomplish that. The popular first addition in terms of taking Grey Knight allies to your Guard, are probably the Terminators. Most people love a good squad of Termis and in this case, I'd suggest 6 of them (depending on just how large you're planning on going with the army). The Brother Captain leads them, along with 5 Terminators, and you can get a nice Incinerator in there. Otherwise, Fast Attack selection Grey Knights can teleport and are also a great choice. Really though, when taking Grey Knights as the ally, most people always go for the Terminators as they're an index unit pretty much. Now if you are open to taking more than just Grey Knights, such as an Inquisitor, you can get quite a few flavorful and fun things as well, though my guess is that you'd like to just keep the Terminator boys ![]() Now, as for using these kinds of units, they're basically shock tactic units. If you have an opponent with a very powerful character, the Grey Knight terminators can do the job generally. The Terminators in general work just like normal Terminators, but yours are much stronger and strike in initiative order, and hit a lot easier, so they're quite a combat whirlwind. Marching them is kind of a taste for some people, but to me, I find if you don't deep strike, you better mount into a land raider. Seeing as you can't get the land raider for them (and it's not really worth it in a Guard army), I'd suggest a good deep strike. If you already have infiltrating or deep striking units, they make a great addition to one-up the threat. Basically, your Terminators are used to fall somewhere important, or just good, and totally take all the attention away from the rest of your army. They do it in style because no one can just have Grey Knight Termis roaming free behind them. If all goes well and you make it to combat, you're pretty much home free ![]() Feel free to ask away ![]() Cheers!
