Default Forge World Repressor

Does anyone know the options for a repressor's armament, and whether they're actually worth getting? I'm probably going to convert mine, but I still need to buy the rules for it.

Interesting that you should mention this, because Keichi246 and I were discussing Forgeworld items recently. He is of the opinion that most are at least somewhat overpriced for what they do (we're talking points in army build, not dollars or pounds). But I pointed to the Repressor, which is a Rhino hull (50pts) with a dozer blade (8pts) and a pintle mounted heavy flamer (12pts, based on the cost of a heavy flamer for a Sisters of Battle troops squad). That comes to 70pts, which is exactly how much the Repressor costs, in game.

As to whether or not it is worth the points, as always, that's debatable. I personally like it since it affords you the ability to carry a full squad, has a dozer blade, heavy flamer (which is oh so nice!), and allows some models to fire from the coupla while moving. I've used it with Dominion squads with some good results. I think it all comes down to personal taste and your opponent allowing its use.

I also have built my own, rather than purchasing one from Forgeworld. Although, my reasoning was a bit different - all my Sisters ride around in Mk1 Rhinos. Using a Mk2 Repressor just would not have looked right. And just to let you know, it was a fairly easy conversion too.

I hope that helps!

Isn't it just about the same as an Immolator, but available for pretty much everyone? The dozer blades is cheaper than the points listed above, the same price as extra armor, making it even cheaper, but the Heavy Flamer isn't a twin-Heavy Flamer of course, but still. I suppose the load of models it can carry makes the difference, and the various kinds of squads it can carry, plus the number of firing holes.

You are correct Mal. The Repressor can be taken by any squad that would ordinarily be allowed to take a Rhino. That's one of the reasons I choose to mount a Dominion Squad in it. Flamers, meltas, or stormbolters firing out the ports along with the pintle mounted stormbolter and flamer are a nice combination.

I'm confident that if Repressors were codex, instead of forgeworld, and available for Troops, people would take them over rhinos without question pretty commonly. Afterall, if we could get Immolators through out troops, I'm sure we'd do that too. It's too hard to say no to that kind of weapon even with the risk of the weak armor. It's quite a bit more powerful than a rhino and the cost is justified by the ability to mount up more girls than an Immolator. Granted, the things still blow up easily, but a cheap transport with good firepower is a great thing (Devilfish for example; Chimera for example). Repressors would be great for drive-by's. Flame.. Flame.. Flame...

That and the awesome modeling potential for putting ragged corpses that were caught on the dozer blades that are half scalded from all the flaming while pushing through crowds of redemptees
