I was reading up on the Witch Hunters codex, just to see what their Arco's were about, and then P.Engine, when I got sidetracked by the art and started reading the Henchmen. Then I realised every 'warrior' could be armed with a Meltagun 0_0
Seriously, Henchmen squads w/ one barebones Inquisitor would make excellent Special Weapon teams , they're all BS4, have frag+krak, and every one of them (up to 12 for the HQ =I=) can take a special weapon!! Madness! This being said, why don't you see them used more often? Whenever I fight Witch Hunters its almost always Sisters with a smattering of Guard for good measure. No love for the Inquisitors?

One can have only 3 of each type, indeed, except torquemada who can have 4 of each. One could however have 3 melta warriors and 3 acolytes with a combi melta for a round of melty death(giving the Inq. a combi too or inferno pistol) or go full on plasma/combi plasma/plasmapistol route.

I'd rather just grab three warriors w/ plasma guns. Or even better, three warriors with heavy bolters and inquisitor w/ pyscannon! Thats some shooty death!

I have nothing but love for the inquisitor squad. There are many other Elite units that can side track you from them, and Battle Sisters, Storm Troopers, and Dominion Squads can be loaded similarly for reletively cheap. Most of us will take one Inquisitor simply to unlock Assassins. (Another phenominal Elites choice if used efficiently) Melta/plasma inquisitor squads are reletively inexpensive, easy to get transport for (Rhino, Land Raider, et all) and devestatingly powerful. Inquisitorial Firepower squads are also awesome using Gun Servitors and Sages to set up a fire base. All good times. I think that the biggest reason that you don't see inquisitor squads more often is because Inquisitors and Inquisitor Lords (and their retinues) are very personalized units. You will often see them specifically NOT maximized for effectiveness, and used for fluff reasons. (I mean, why take a Bolter-Stake Crossbow anyway?) For the Powergame-minded, HQ slots are the domain of Grey Knight Grand Masters, and Adepta Sororitas Heroines. Elite Slots are dominated by assassins, Grey Knight Terminators, and Celestians. An inquisitor is often an afterthought taken simply as an unlock for Death Cult or Ordo Assassinorium assassins... I have often thought of running an army based around a large band of Inquisitors Hunters, with maxed out Inquisition. (Probably WH =I= Lord, DH Inquisitor w Psycannon, and an "alien Hunters" Inquisitor built from the WH List) A Deathwatch Kill Team in the second HQ slot for the Alien Hunters, a Callidus Assassin, (Because I Love them!) Two Arbites Squads led by Priests with Evicerators, Two Battle SIster Squads, (Arbites and Sisters in Rhinos) two allied Grey Knight Squads, Serephim, Deep Striking Grey Knights, Dominions, Exorcist, Penitient Engines, and a Lance Strike! One Full FOC of Inquistion pwnage! One day... ![]() Ged

As mentioned earlier, a Daemonhunter squad with Psycannon Inquisitor and 3 Heavy Bolter Servitors makes for a nice cheap fire-support unit. You COULD probably take a Sage as an extra meatshield on top too, plus the BS 5 Psycannon is fun.

Ah, i must've missed the type-cap part. Still though, its an excellent special weapon squad and you can have SO many! (2 HQ's, 3 Elite) total of 5 special weapon squads running around gunning down priority targets...mmmm makes me want to play Witch Hunters lol.

Only 1 HQ unless you use special characters or allies from a different codex. Not that it should matter for plasma/melta squads, but just watch out for it^^

I think xShaperx was referring to using a Lord from each list as HQ which would give him the 5 he wants. If not, well...you can do it that way none the less.
