Default Whats wrong with metal?

Why do people not choose Sisters of Battle sinply because they are all metal models? a box of tactical marines is $35 and a box of sisters of battle is $40 thats only $5 difference. to me its not that big of a difference you still get 10 sister sof battle. My only complaint is the conversion possibilites are very low unless you know how to cut up metal! but i've played them for a couple months now and they haven't angered me its actually a little enjoyable not having to put everything together! i'm not saying go ahead go play them i'm just saying give them a chance don't instantly say no to them!

they have great variety in the army considering you can deploy marines, guardsmen, storm troopers, and Sister of battle! thats what i really enjoy about playing them the little perks you get like being able to have access to a leman russ! or drednaughts! they also have very good fluff oppertunities! Inqusitors the iron-willed commanders that have the authority to destroy whole planets!

let me know what you think i hope this will inspire people to play this great army!

Lord_Tylarius,

I was actually shocked to find how little sisters cost. The average cost/model is only about $4 US for standard bolter-sisters. Considering my average cost/model was in the $6-$7 US range for my Eldar, I'm very happy. The metal models are more durable than the plastics, and have more detail. (Though if LotR is any indication, the next generation of plastics will look awesome!)
You figure that startup cost for Space Marines includes a commander model. 2 Tac Squad Boxes, and a Codex for around $100.00 US, and that the same startup for sisters is around $110.00 US. It's not so bad.

Heya,

The simple truth of the matter is thus,

Adeptas Sororitas Do Not Contain the Following:

Lascannons
PlasmaGuns
Drop Pods
Librarians
Terminators
LandSpeeders
AssaultCannons
Cheap powerful combat weapons; read, the cheap Power Fist (one handed no less)

It's literally as simple as that. It takes more planning and weathering to really play Sisters. They're not Marines. They lack all the powerful ranged gizmos of the trade. What marines do with 48", you must do with 6" to 12". No infiltration, no drop pods, no deep striking. Nothing. You walk. Or, you ride a bit, the ride explodes, then you walk.

Sisters are the Coast Guard, Marines are the Navy--as a metaphor.

It's not just metal vs. plastic.

Cheers!

I love them! Beautiful sculpts, wonderful fluff possibilities (taking the entire Witch Hunters army into account). The Battle Sisters are the main reason I even considered starting Witch Hunters. That, and I already had two other Imperial armies that I can use with them...

I think one of the main reasons people are less likely to choose pure Witch Hunters is that they do take a bit of courage to use. We have a hell of a lot of shootiness, but the majority of our anti-tank needs to be very close to the enemy to be effective.

I even like the Exorcist. I simply don't understand why people have such a big problem with it...

I don't think it's all "Plastics vs. Metals". It's got a lot to do with the game. Not just what they're made of.

It's true that there's only a $5 difference, but you have to look deeper in this topic to REALLY get why Sisters are more expensive than Marines. The reason for this is that Sisters of Battle are so cheap in points. You'll pay $4 for one model, for you to find out that it costs only 11 points. A boxed set of the girlies costs you $40, and the whole squad itself only costs 110 points, while with Marines you're paying $35 for 150 points in models. Plus, with Marines, you can afford to take smaller squads of Troops. They're tough enough for it. But with fragile Sisters you need a lot of numbers to be able to take blows on the battlefield, thus you're going to be buying A LOT more Sisters to keep up with other players in battle. Sisters are an insanely expensive army to pull off.

But that's only price issues. Like Mal states, Marines have a whole bunch of longer ranged gizmos that 40k players just like. Sisters don't. A Marine can shoot down a tank at 48". A Sister has to do that at 12". Getting close is also an issue, as Sisters are more fragile, and they don't have many transports to help them.

I'm fine with Sisters, though. I have to work to achieve success with them, but they reward you for your Faith, and their models are stunning.

Plus with all metal miniatures there is a lack of customability. its not just conversions, you can't change the poses or choose which models get which weapons.

Metal are just more difficult now that the sculpts for plastic are just as good as them.

I'll admit I had a stroke of luck. I ended up finding a store that was selling all of it's GW merchandise at 50% off. Sisters included (though it was the old squad that only has like 10 models tops).

$10 a box. I got the old second edition Canoness, Seriphim and a box of Battle Sisters for about the cost of a tactical marine box.

I have an all Sisters force that was very expensive to build but this is a hobby where we all pay far too much for small soldiers so price is not the issuefor me.

My problems with metal figures are twofold, the weight of carrying them to a battle and the limited conversion opportunities.

I enjoy the Sororitas (and realted) models.
Sure, metal is hard to convert, but, luckily, they mostly have no need for that.
The price is mean, but I get most my models used, for a lower price, or a good trade. ;D
