Default 400 point patrol army with ally

The GW near me is having a 400 point patrol army with an allied 400 point player as well. You can pick the person you are allied with. I have 3 friends whom are going with me. Blood Angels, Tau, and Space Marines. Right now I'm thinking it is best if I ally with the BA, and make a close combat specialist army.

Inquisitor Lord (power weapon, bolt pistol)
3 warriors with ccw/hell pistol
2x 10 sisters (1 melta OR 2 storm bolters....)
2 death cult 'sins

It adds up to 396.

Any suggestions? Oh, and I only field females in my army, so storm troopers are out. Until I can convert a full squad of them. I plan on looking at Necromunda figures for that.

I was also thinking of some kind of really cheap tank army... but

Welcome!

Seeing as your going to be playing combat patrol, and your inquisitor lord isn't equiped to do anything special, I would take him(or her?) out. Check the stickied Witch Hunter armylists as well! It has some lists for combat patrol, but none that are all girls I think.

Maybe plunk a cannoness in there, as she would do more than an Inquisitor. Just don't let the assassins be your crutch. They can be fickle. :P

Try this:

EDIT: no cannoness, CP my bad ;D (I play different) :P

Battle sisters(10)
Vet Sister
Eviscerator
melta gun

Battle sisters(10)
Vet Sister
Eviscerator
melta gun

Rhino
extra armour, smoke launchers

Its rough, and its probably over points, but something similar to this is good. Just an idea. Good luck!

P.S.
I just noticed this is an all sisters list like you wanted!

That site is breaking the copyright rules. I recomend getting rid of the link.

I personally would go 2 squads of 8 IST, and one suad of 10 SoBs in a rhino if you could fit it.

Welcome Angelic Devil,

Which ever rules you're using (and I recommend the normal rules in the 4th edition rulebook), the Lord in your list is too much. He has three wounds, and that's not going to work in combat patrol. An elite Inquisitor will work though. Also note, Inquisitors are Strength 3. He won't be killing T4 marines in this lifetime, so I would suggest using guns--which can kill marines. A single meltagun or plasmagun for example on a Warrior (veteran guardsmen) works miracles. No need for the power weapon. The sisters look good, but I'd work in Faith. Faith makes bolter rips through marines faster which makes your life easier. Death Cult assassins are much too expensive for combat patrol level, but it's up to you--I definitely would not take more than one. Overall, I'd drop them though in favor of more sisters.

Patrol Clash is what created 40k in 40minutes. Chapter Approved took it from them, and published it. That's how most people got into 40kn40m in the first place. The version of "combat patrol" in the 4th edition rule book is directly from the Patrol Clash boys. The link is totally legal--they made that stuff; and they're the reason why we have it in our rulebook.

Cheers!

Sorry bout all that, I'm still rusty on the new rules, and just assumed combat patrol were 400 point armies, but I'm really liking these rule sets and all that. This is really interesting. I like your suggestions, and all that. I'll probabley be allied with a Tau combat patrol, but it seems that numbers and a bit of mobility are the way to go for this.

Alright, now I'm deciding if I should go with the Rhino's or not. They are expensive, and not sure how much use, but I do like them a bit. I might be in favour of dropping them to get more sisters in my army though.

9 Sisters, 2 melta guns [1 Vet, Auspex, Krak gernade]
Rhino, smoke

9 Sisters, 2 melta guns [1 Vet, Auspex]
Rhino, smoke

I figure I can advance to any position I want, and use the Rhino's to make tank shocks against armies that could troble me. Orks for the most part. I don't see it doing well against necrons at all though.

If I go more modles, I can bring a lot of bolters to bear... and get 9 more sisters into battle. It is more foot slogging, but it seems reasonable.

Hey man,

I'd recommend you explore other options in your army list if you're going to use Transports. In terms of Sisters, the best "foot" squads are large troops of sisters. However, for mounted squads, Dominions and Celestians are superior due to smaller numbers with the same and more access to weapons.

So if you're required to take a troop, perhaps work within your strengths.

Example:

Troop1 (Req): 170 points.
Sisters of Battle x 14
Veteran Superior; Auspex

They will be slow, so most special weapons will be inactive or not usable most of the game. Bolters are very powerful when massed and especially powerful driven by Faith. Lots of simple sisters is a great squad and large groups make huge benefit of Divine Guidance.

Elite1: 156 points.
Celestians x 6
-Meltaguns x 2
Rhino; Extra Armor; Smokes

Celestians are great for small squads that are mobile, and they have cheap special weapons. They're also automatically faithful for cheaper than Dominions would be of the same setup. Dominions, with the same setup, would be 168 points with a faithful character, so we actually save points with Celestians even if they cost slightly more per model. Our benefit on top of that, is that they're pretty decent in close combat with Holy Hatred!

Heavy1: 73 points.
Immolator
-Extra Armor; Smokes

It's not the best choice out there, but it does great in combat patrols against mobs of Orks, Guants, Guardsmen, etc. It's definitely not good to throw it at Necrons though. Anyhow, it's a powerful vehicle that can move 12 inches and still use it's twin-heavy flamer, which is quite powerful against all infantry types. It's a cheap way to get something mobile, that hurts and is a separate scoring unit.

------------

An alternative way to go about things, would be to perhaps use your troops for mobility and then use other units for static ranged support:

Troop1 (Req): 202 points.
Sisters of Battle x 10
-Meltaguns x 2
Veteran Superior
Rhino; Extra Armor; Smokes

Fast, mounted and ready to bust whatever that moves.

Elite1: 84 points.
Celestians x 6
-Flamer x 1

A cheap ground unit that isn't bad in combat. They also grant more faith for your Troop to use.

Heavy1: 111 points.
Retributors x 6
-Heavy Bolters x 3

Cheap static units that will whoop anything on foot that isn't a Marine (though we can down marines too, just not as easily). Heavy bolters can do serious damage when massed up and we get them for very cheap and behind power armor.

---------

Anyhow, some tricks so you can build your own lists to suit you:

1 - Troops are great in combat patrol, but one is all you should ever take for the Req.

2 - Dominions & Celestians are better for small, cheap mobile units than Troops.

3 - Retributors can be used just like troops, but without the 10 cap on minimum size. That means, you could mount a troop and then take 3 smaller squad of sisters on foot with just bolters, giving you lots of power armored units with bolters for cheap! (For 198 points, you can get 3 squads of 6 sisters with bolters--the same price as a mounted troop of sisters with faith). That's 4 scoring units for combat patrol and that's great for you.

4 - Faith isn't always necessary in combat patrol, so don't actively seek to max it much. One or two points is all you should have. Even then, you shouldn't need it. Sometimes, it's cheaper to get faith from autofaithful units rather than making a unit faithful at this level.

Cheers!

If its 40k in 40 minutes, I'd recommend something like an all foot sisters army: 2 units of sisters, a small ret squad and a palintine.
