They arent the normal guardsmen models, they are a squad of "firstborn", apparently the veteran elite of the army.  It may be that Vostroyans will have older and more powerful veterans than the normal guard list.  I would think that they would have a different list to attract players to the new army.  I think we need to withhold most of our judgement until we see the infantry models.

IG havent had plastics since 1st edition?  Everything released since Steel legion has had some plastics, like Cadians and Catachans(though theirs suck).  GW has stated many times that they have a goal of releasing as much in plastic as possible from here on.  It is my opinion that they would not view a new metal IG force as very attractive to the customer, save the diehard veteran players.  Weighing mold prices vs. marketing, i think GW will release them in plastic so that they will actually sell well, otherwise there wouldnt be a point in going to the trouble in the first place.

I have to agree, the troops at least I think will be plastic.  it goes against GW goals and thier recent practices to do a 'new' all metal army.  Everything outside the  standard trooper, maybe metal though.  I've got another suspicion about the heavy weapons but i'll wait to see before I start spreading rumours.

I hope the troop models will have helmets instead of fur-hats. The Valhallans already have those. Actually, I hope for helmets looking like the one of Major Winters on your avatar, Monkeighbusiness. ^^ They would actually fit perfectly in with my already begun army.

I dont think its a question of making them different from Valhallans.  These guys are apparently designed to replace Valhallans.  New units would be nice.  Ever since the guards ever had a codex, they havent gotten any genuinely new units.  They have only had units removed from their codex.  Can you think of another army who has only had things taken from them, and never gotten anything new?  The Demolisher is the only thing i can think of that was ever added, and it doesnt count in my opinion.  A small half-track vehicle would be sooo cool...

REPLACE VALHALLANS?!?  It's like some sort of GW conspiracy!  I've never heard of this, but I love the valhallan models and fluff and should'nt be touched with.  I mean, the vostroyans don't even LOOK valhallan!  And when was the demolisher added?  It's been in the codex for as long as I can remember...

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! There is no higher, just power! Curse these incredible, cool looking METAL! models... Once more, no plastic  :'(
Then GW has convinced me once more to buy only a marginal amount of their new stuff. Perhaps I will buy the HQ, and use some of the models in my command squad, just for the looks of it. And bear-skin hats wont bounce many BULLETS! (Yes, I wanted helmets too.)
CURSES! (a bit disappointed  :( )

I really hope they are plastic. GW learned their mistake when they made all the old metal troops like Tallarn and Mordian and Valhallan when a bunch of people all stopped playing guard because nobody wanted to shell out for so mant metal troops (also because so many of the figures looked stupid). I imagine they will handle it the same way they handle the Cads and Catchs... metal command, metal special weapons, plastic troops. At least I hope they do.

...what planet are you on? GW haven't done Plastic Guard since 1st Edition! Most Guard players have played all-metal armies for a long time... it is by no means a "mistake". Indeed, many of the metals are much better quality than the plastics (Catachans are a prime example; good metals, appauling plastics).
well i'm staring at an almost all-plastic guard army made of cadian shock troops and a few wierd conversions of old miniatures right now. No offense moderator, but what planet are YOU on??

Yes looks all metal, or mostly metal.

There are bitz here and there I can identify either were cast in metal form plastic parts, or are weirdly using plastic bitz.  I'm also getting a feeling of....wrongness form these.  Don't get me wrong, they are very nice looking and well done, but I keep picking out little things that are from very old models(flamer nozzle, mortar) and newer bitz (gernade launcher, voxcaster pack).  It almost seems like these were made some time ago but never released untill more recently.  Maybe just me...eh.

I'd like to steal thier long wooden lazguns for a future project with my Guard. I wanted to revamp them at some point to have a US civil war theme. :)

Imperial Guard Vostroyan Firstborn Regiment $35.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Command Squad $35.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Platoon $90.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Assault Weapons $10.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Officers $10.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Troopers $12.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Lascannon Team $10.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Mortar Team $10.00
Imperial Guard Vostroyan Snipers $10.00
hey did anyone else notice something odd about the pricing. heavy weapon teams are £6 pounds, while normal metal HW are 7. and troopers(im guessing 3 fig. blister) is 7 while normal metal guard blisters are 6.

P.S. hey how bout chopping the heads off and planting cadian heads? no gas masks but alteast they'll have helmets. it'll be harder since their metal though(dispite wargamers odd claims)
