Just watched most of the videos of theirs on Youtube. I'm really looking forward to this, it maybe something i will watch... I assume it is only going to be a DVD release, i may end up renting it. (I tend not to buy DVD's as i never watch them again) But i will start following this one well.

Am i right in saying that John Hurt was the voice of the dragon in the BBC production 'Merlin'? If so i am impressed, his voice is really good for fantasy, GW seem to be pulling out all the stops for this. It may not be so bad as the nay sayers say!

Nothing has been announced about the story as far as I'm aware, other than it's by Dan Abnett, which leaves me feeling slightly relieved. He is the best author on GW's books by far.
Just because you can write a good book doesn't nessecarily mean he's good at writing for the screen and vice versa ;).

No, but it gives you a pretty decent head start :P
At least it will be a decent STORY lol.
I'm sure there will be others in control of the visual elements, being CGI. I think he is head-script writer, possibly there will be others aiding and abetting with this. It is a massive project for GW to undertake, and potentially could reap them massive awards as it's appeal could be a lot larger than those who are just into the hobby. If they do it well it will open the doors, if they don't do it justice (because let's face it, there are many awesome stories for the hobby - and countless more potential great stories) then it could see those avenues flop and end for a long time.
I would personally LOVE to see more and more films being funded.
Now could be a great time to buy shares in GW ;D

Actually I'd say Sandy Mitchell, but all he's known for is the Caphias Caine books.  ANyone who in the course of a book can get it to sound like you really are reading the writtings of four diffrent people(Cain or course, the editor Inquisitor Vale, and one or two others in the exceerpts Vale adds each book to flesh out the events).  That takes some work.  He's also done a few other works mostly for Fantasy.

Still, glad to hear Abnett and some of the voice actors are these people.  It does make it look like this has a hope.

I've got my fingers crossed lol.
Ever since I first got into the hobby as a kid I remember hoping there would be a movie one day. :)

Quote from: Games Workshop
You might remember that a while back I mentioned the upcoming Ultramarines movie; well the folks at Codex Pictures have just announced their cast list. Terence Stamp, Sean Pertwee and John Hurt will head up the cast of actors who have lent their voice talents to the film. And, thanks to some clever motion capture stuff, their facial movements will be transferred to the screen as well. Apparently The New York Times referred to it as 'technology that captures the soul' - sounds distinctly Necron, if you ask me.

Source

GW is silly. I think soul capturing sounds far more Chaotic or Dark Eldar. Hell... Could this tie in with a Dark Eldar release, similar to Space Hulk's timing for Nids and Blood Angels? I doubt it and get the feeling we'll see a more classic foe, but who knows...

I honestly doubt Nids, unfortunately. Too much like Alien. I'm betting on Orks or Chaos.

I'd accept Necrons in a pinch, but for the love of whatever the reader happens to find holy, I hope they don't go up against Tau or Eldar.

Orks would be cool... I'd like to see how gritty they can make them in a film. :D
I think we will see more than one enemy. I wouldn't shut out Eldar making an appearance. Personally, I think it will be Chaos and Eldar.

I expect to see Space Marines, Chaos, Eldar, Orks. Those are basically the Big 4 of 40k. They're the most iconic and easily identifiable races in the game (The good guys, the bad guys, the elves and the orcs) They're factions that people who aren't already knowledgeable about the game can easily understand. Tyranids are too Alienesque; Dark Eldar are relatively obscure and don't make for good movie level conflict; Necrons are yet another rip-offy race with a lot of roots in Terminator and the Tau aren't really evil at all, so they're obviously not going to be the main bad guy in any movie.

No! Not space marines.  :P
GW Will never use their poster boys, in case their armour gets dirty. ::)

Maybe it'll be based off of the Ultramarines omnibus.
