Jayne, that's pathetic. Your groveling has reached an all time low.

Good thing your not a Mod Ender. ;D
That's apparently a sign of the Apocalypse, so don't demean yourself.  :)

I was wondering about the ammo/energy cell myself, but though the they just fit flush with the body of the weapon.
I love the fan illustration (inside cut away is not canon, that we know of, but the outside is good) here that was made, you can see the missing sticking out pieces. ATT: Eastern empires/Tael drawing

Thats actually quite interesting. I had assumed that the ammo was the bit in the stock (Damn you Firewarrior).

Always wondered about the Twin Barrel thing though. Does the Rifle fire 2 pulses simultaniously, thus giving it its improved hitting power? or is it one at a time, alternatinge between shots for cooling and wear reasons? All artwork i have seen suggests the former.

 :P

We don't actually know if that's how it works Jayne, that's just Tael's version (albeit an excellent fan work). The outside was the important part, for looks, not the inside.

Well in the absence of anything more canon to go on, it will do for me.

The only reason I say that you shouldn't take the cut away too literally is because it doesn't conform to canon ammo. Tael's essentially makes Pulse weapons into Tau railguns, when they actually break down a particle to fire a charge of energy.  :)

It technically makes the Pulse weapons weak too, with "hundreds" of FPS of velocity. It would do less damage than todays hand-held weapons going some thousands of FPS.  ;)

BK, why not click on that link I posted before instead of hot linking?  ;)

+1  Nice work, TrooperPX

I removed the hotlink and related posts, mostly out of respect for Tael's bandwidth.  He doesn't have advertising to support that site, so hot-linking from a big forum can be a bit of a drain.  I would encourage you to visit Eastern Empire directly.  The diagram of the pulse rifle is in the Library.  He has a lot of other good resources there as well.

I really like the finished effect on this.  Particularly with the rest of your army.  I would be interested in seeing some close-ups, as the paintjob on those looks fantastic.

Any chance of some dimensions for this thing for those of us who wish to make our own?

I'm in the middle of a show, but when that gets through I'll take some pics on graph paper with dimensions.   ;)

Thanks all!

Will we be seeing anymore weapons from you? Carbine? RailRifle? Full XV88 Battlesuit?

Don't flippin' tempt me... but no, no Crisis Suit.  Haddn't considered more, but you never know what might happen over a slow summer.

1. I ready is was a 5/4" board however what is it? Just generic pine? How much was it? (ha fooled you that was actually 2 questions)

Five-quarter lumber is a 1-1/4"-thick-board.  It's a lumber term.  Yes, pine.  Had it in the shop, maybe $5 in materials...

I hate to be the one to bring it up though... Where's the ammo/energy magazine?  :P

I'll add the little widget, maybe just a 1/4" biscuit of wood to represent it, to the bottom plug at some point.   :P

Hmm, didn't realize it was that cheap to make. Might have to encase one with a "break in case of Tyranids" signage on the front.  :D

Heehee, "in case of tyranids, break glass"! I love it! Very nice work on the rifle, there. I was looking for you to router it down and make a rounded barrel on the top, as that's what my army looks like, but the final product speaks for itself.

After looking at my own mini's a little more closely, I see that I was imagining the rounded barrel on the top in the first place. I thought the top middle layer stuck out sideways a little bit, but mine only look that way because of the way I painted them.

Hmm, didn't realize it was that cheap to make.

I'd seen a few made over the years.  One was a carrying case, where the barrel tips pulled straight out and it was one long "shoe box".  Said it took him "months", and to me it was oversized.  Cool, but not for me.  Seen people use milled alluminimum, CAD designed, air-soft, etc., really complex builds, works of art really.

This was a one-off, as a prop for an event two weeks away, and without having any clear "future" for it, didn't want to invest too much $$ or time into it.  I knew I could pull off the "that's really cool" looking prop, and more importantly, didn't want to freak out should someone knock it over or drop it.  So a cheap, light chunk of wood, and my artsy-fartsy labor got it done.

By not competing with DARPA, not trying to fool anyone that it was a "real" concept weapon... sometimes quick-and-dirty is good enough.   ;)

I am most curious about the overall length. If you use warhammer's exaggerated scale, you are looking at like a 6 fool long gun...
