Night. A pitch black night. The only thing that helped Ou´rit, a Tau Monat in a XV8 Crisis suit, was the Night Filter. His weapons were active and the green light was on. He had checked their status several times, for he wanted to be as effective as possible for the Greater Good. He rechecked his missile pod, which seemed as though it were ready to kill a couple of Space Marines. His Fusion Blaster was also in perfect status. He overlooked the battlefield, and could see the Adeptus Astartes readying their forces calmly. Ou´rit shut his eyes, and replayed in his mind the battle scenario. He was to provide emergency support for the three Fire Warrior teams flanking the Emperor´s greatest pride. Ou´rit was behind the Marines, on the opposite side of the main strike, which the enemy was preparing to engage. Another Tau Monat was on the western side of the attack, where another three teams were preparing the massacre. Or so they thought.
Suddenly, confusion spat over his COM, and he heard the voice of Iu´tir, the other Tau Monat. He opened his eyes, and saw all of the Space Marines looking to the west. He also looked west, and saw pulse and bolter fire. He also saw Iu´tir, retreating using his jetpack, his twin linked plasma rifles emitting death. Several figures also lifted in the air after Iu´tir, and Ou´rit managed to identify them. The red suits of the Blood Angels Honor Guard was impossible not to recognize… Ou´rit took a couple steps and lifted into the air with his jetpack. He quickly called over his mic to a friend in the XV15 Shadow group, quietly going about their business.
“Rius, Rius! This is Ou´rit! I need you, shas´vre!”
“Yeah, Ou´rit. I´ll do whatever you need. These guys are too close together to pick off stragglers.” The answer was immediate, and expectant.
“I need you to provide emergency support to the shas´las in the eastern assault! I´m gonna help Iu´tir!” Ou´rit was nearing the minimum range for his missile pod to fire on the Blood Angels. There was a momentary silence, and then Rius answered:
“Oh hell. Hurry up! I got the shas´las!”
Ou´rit smiled as he entered the range needed to fire, and happily and bloodthirsty, pulled the trigger. Three rockets hurled themselves at the enemy with a dinosaur like roar. A Blood Angel fell the rocket, but the two others missed or were destroyed in the air. Now even bolter fire came from the Space Marines on the ground. In no time, Iu´tir and Ou´rit came together and retreated releasing shot after shot of lethal weaponry at the Blood Angels. They finally landed, and finished the last two Honor Guard members.
They looked at the Space Marines, and saw them running towards the Tau battlelines, just as the eastern assault opened fire. Four Space Marines fell to hails of Pulse Rifle fire, and for thirty six shots, that wasn´t gonna cut it. Iu´rit´s voice came over the COM, telling him to look west. There, running across the plain, were several Blood Angels Tactical Squads, heading for the Tau in the east. Then the rumbling of two Furioso dreadnoughts shattered the little silence left in the night. They were making their way to the same objective as the Tactical Squads.
“Come On, let´s show the Blood Angels that their own blood can be spilt!” Ou´rit started down the hill, with Iu´tir on his heels. But a voice on the intercom halted the two friends.
“Ou´rit, Iu´tir, this is Rius, go for the dreadnoughts, we´ll keep the Tactical Squads occupied.” A devilish laugh from Rius filled the COM as the Tau Monats redirected their course. Two Blood Angels seemed to lag behind, who quickly lost their lives to many plasma rifle shots. The dreadnoughts seemed to catch their presence when they were about four hundred meters away. They halted, and took aim at the Tau. The Tau Monats broke each their own way. All the shots missed, since both Monats were seasoned veterans. Ou´rit opened fire with his missile pod, and 3 seconds later, plasma rifles sounded off. But the first, who received the missiles, only lost an arm, while the second received a mortal wound in the head. Ou´rit, tired of the low aim of his missiles lately, got within range and fired his Fusion Blaster. The intense heat opened a hole in the suit of the dreadnought, and a second shot literally evaporated it´s head. The dreadnoughts had been downed with relative ease.
They decided to help the XV15 group, which harassed the Blood Angels, not letting ´em advance. But one of the of the squad saw the Crisis running for them. Immediately, as if on cue, the whole Squad turned and fired their weapons. Out of instinct, Ou´rit took off with his jetpack, blasting at full power. But Iu´tir received most of the aim and shots, stopping him, and dropping the XV8 to his knees. With a last surge of strength, he raised the twin linked plasma rifles, and shot off all the rounds he could till he was assasinated by the bolter fire. From the air, Ou´rit felt the surge of rage, and fired his weapons at full capacity. Just then, Rius and his boys opened up on the Blood Angels, leaving them momentarily dazed, which Ou´rit took full advantage of. He come upon them, fell and fearless. His fusion blaster finished the lives of many Blood Angels, and the missiles helped, and at dawn, he finished the squads. His Fusion blaster was jammed, and by luck only it didn´t blow up on him. The missile pod had expended all it´s rockets, and all he had left was fury. He saw that the Tau weren´t faring well against the Adeptus Astartes, and Ou´rit, still infuriated, ran at them, his jetpack useless from bolter shot. He managed to kill two, and his fury and rage inspired the remnants of the Tau army, which now fired all they had at them, even Hammerheads and Broadsides were shooting their Railguns at the Space Marines. But Ou´rit died that day, taken down by 7 Space Marines, and he did not fear death when it arrived, rather he welcomed it, hoping his actions that night would have served for the Greater Good.
How is it? It´s only the second time I write in English. I´d appreciate help on things that seem wrong.
