Default Cult Army

What do you think of an imperial guard army dedicated to one of the chaos gods. I think that a guard army with zombie bits would make an awsome Nurgle force. Or a force with 5 psychers for Tzeentch.

Lost and the Damned?

Or do you mean an army alligned to a specific Chaos power, such as a Nurgle Chaos IG army?

Have you heard of The Lost and the Damned before?

It would be more sensible to use lost and the damned because u can have plauge zombies and deamons (can u have deamons???) u could paint up traitors as imperial gaurdsmen since they are traitor if tahts what u r aiming at

Ya exactly, that is why they developed that list. You can use your zombie bits and then use plague zombies and yes.. deamons. Yu could even havea greater deamon lead them..

Lost and the Damed can't really make a decent themed Guard army though - you simply can't have as many models!

I have been considering doing a Chaos themed Guard army before, only without all the gribbly monsters. Lots of well trained and motivated infantry, masses of untrained recruits, demented but tactically aware officers, the imagery for me is fantastic.

The scope for conversions is great as well - skull masked Guardsmen with chaos icons carved into their armour, mutants standing side by side in uniform with their purer brothers, stalk tanks (sentinels) with long spidery legs, lower tech tanks charging en-mass to overwelm their superior opponants...

Lurvely.

So you want to field a Blood Pact army?

The rules are in a WD but I forget which one, I think it has the Necron on the front. I'm going to dig it out tonight as I'm interested as well.

The Blood Pact are the elite infantry of Chaos as depicted in the Gaunt's Ghosts novels by Dan Abnett. They are not random cultists or populations taken by the sway of Chaos, they are a devoted, well drilled and well equipped infantry force.

Sounds like the kind of thing your looking for, and if it has subtle Chaos flavours, it may well be the kind of thing I'm looking for as well, I just hope one of us can find the WD article..

I know I left it around here somewhere..

They don't have to be Blood Pact. Even then you get the problem of not being able to field enough troops and no Conscripts. Not to mention you have to have a Power Armoured leader.

There are two ways of going for a cult army. I personally like using the IG codex because it give more of the imperial guard structure. Besides, having rank apon rank of traitor guardsmen supported by their corrupted vehicles is a far more awsome sight than a bunch of mutants.

Ypu could use abhuman doctrines and work it into your fluff.

The traitor guard regiment failed to protect something/one and was thusly punished with freaky but funny deformities.
