Send a message via MSN to 33rd Sirican Redbacks

Of course... its rather common in long campaigns for different regiments to merge as there are so few troops left.

I can't remember where maybe the new IG Codex, but I saw a brief dialog that an Elysian & Catachan regiment was combined in the mist of a campaign. It described how the Elysians would swoop in with their Vendettas and clean up after the Catachans ambushed the enemy. Actually sounds like a good game technique.
"While the races of the galaxy tear one another apart, the Tau grow stronger and stronger." Ummm, not until they get a new codex.

This happens quite a bit in the Gaunts Ghosts books.

Simple answer: yes

It often takes more than one regiment to claim a planet/defeat a foe.
