Default Fish of fury for Imperial Guard

I wanted to use the same Tau tactic of 'fish of fury', where you put fire warriors in a transport and drop them off near an enemy, blast them with 24 shots, and the run away. Now, could I do the same with guardsmen equipped with a heavy flamer, a regular flamer, and the order of 'first rank, fire! second rank, fire!' , with a chimera or a valkyrie? I know that it wouldn't really work against space marines, etc., but what about orks and Tyrannids? If succesful, 1 squad could have 24 las shots, a heavy flamer, a regular flamer, and multilaser with a heavy bolter. That's bound to make something run for their lives, but I wanted to check with you guys before I did it, just see if it really works, or if you guys would think it could work.

For starters:

There is only 10 men in a chimere and the heavy flamer can't shoot when you disembark so just pick up three normal flamers (same cost as 1 HF and a F);

-3 flamer templates
-18 las gun (first rank fire second...)
-1 laspistol
-3 heavy bolter shots
-3 mulitlaser shots

Other than that it is fine although to be honest I would keep them in the transport as it has 5 firepoints after all.

but heavy flamers are assualt 1 weapons. Why can't they fire when I disembark? And can I give my squad leader a las gun? It's not like Guardsmen have a good chance in hand-to-hand. :cookie:

Keep your guardsmen inside the Chimera. The reason Tau have to disembark is because there are no fire points in the Devilfish. The IG don't have to worry about this problem, so just leave everyone inside. Pretty much any mech IG list will utilise this tactic. Just field some veterans with plasma or meltaguns and special weapon squads with flamers.

Huh, I thought they were heavy... probably due to the name. Cool though.

And the sarge can't have a lasgun.

Another problem with actually unloading units from a Chimera; you'll need to turn your Chimera's Rear AV of 10 towards the enemy since the Chimera's only access point is the rear. You're probably better off sitting in your Chimera until an opportune chance comes by to unleash the torrent of fire from both the Chimera and the unit inside the Chimera who's firing from the Hatch of the Chimera.

Look at your codex. You do have one, right? Look under the entry for any Guard sergeant in the army list. Do you see any option to take a lasgun? There's your answer.
