Default Raid on Kastorel-Novem: Elysian Army List Question

For those of you who might know the answer...

Anyone know if the Elysian Army list allows their officers to issue orders, or does the Iron Discipline special rule sort of override the order system?

Iron D is a bonus not a replacement so yes orders are still there.

Alright, thanks. Is this a Rules-as-Intended issue, or is there a page number in IA8 that informs Elysian players that they can still use orders?

Iron Discipline is detailed on pg 94. There is no reference to orders at all. In fact the only order effected is Get Back into the Fight & that's only in a roundabout way as they do the same thing almost.

See, that's my concern. If no mention of orders is made, then some folks are going to argue that Elysian lists cannot use orders, and that would bite the big one. Seriously.

Point taken. Looking back in the book I see that the Officers have the Senior & Junior Officer rules & it says refer to C:IG for details. Looking in the codex it says the officer in question can issue the following orders then it lists which ones. So in summary you CAN issue orders. There is really NO room for argument. In fact IA8 says the Elysians have "superb" officers so feel free to dread sock opponents who continue to argue.

The problem there is that "Senior" and "Junior" Officers suggests the previous edition of the Codex...

Senior & Junior is still present in the current codex. Look under the listing for either Command Squad. The Senior Officer and Junior Officer special rules are the 1st listed in the Company Command Squad & Platoon Command Squad respectively.

Really? I never paid much attention to be honest - as far as I'm concerned, if it's got one wound it's a Lieutenant, two it's a Captain, three it's a Colonel.

I'm a 3rd Ed. Guard Commander and proud of it! ;D

Ah, excellent, thank you very much for the clarifications! Now I'm going to be staring at the Forge World website debating whether or not to start an Elysian army...

And unlike the last list, this army list actually has several viable builds Happy Camper.
