Default Guard Planet & style concept (see my 1st post on page 2)

Just wondering really... due to re-deployment, changing seasons etc etc.
I was thinking as a cheaper version to play the soviet red army would be to use cadian models, paint the fatigues and body armour cream, and the helmet green, with a red star on it.

I would like to think so. I know my death korps have several different colors they are deployed in at least. However "fluff" shouldnt stop you from painting your army the way you want too.

Hm, just thinking really... i'm not concerned w/ the red army concept for cadians, because it wouldn't look different from what they wear anyway!

Just a little query that's all...

It changes depending on who is painting it... There have always been alternative camo designs in white dwarf and the codexes I've looked at (which admittedly does exclude the new one).

Valhalla itself is dreadfully cold, all the time. I don't think Valhallans would ever want to be caught without their greatcoats on. If you're thinking when Valhallans would be deployed to other planets, they would avoid hot climates. A Valhallan regiment would be much less effective in a temperate or hot planet, just as another regiment would be less effective in a very cold planet. When Valhallan's are requisitioned for campaigns, they are generally deployed on the colder planets.

Hope that makes sense!

Well there will be other planets in the universe that are cold like Valhalla, or are like cadia.

Think of your own planets name and red uniforms will be theirs.

You don't have to use GW preset planets for your army. Be unique

While the Valhallan's don't change their uniforms, there are plenty of other worlds that are primarily covered in Tundra. You can make a regiment from one of those worlds and just use the Valhallan models.

Valhallans get deployed in their element... just because it is cold doesn't mean it will be blue or green. You could have a cold red planet. A Valhallan's uniform will be different depending on where he is delpoyed. They aren't always going to be fighting on Valhalla, nor would they be so stupid as to use a camo scheme that doesn't fit with the world they have been deployed to fight on.

I think that part is a given. I believe USAFTCP is referring to the fact that the style of uniform will never change, i.e. you'll never catch a Valhallan in Cadian style flak armour.
