Default Chimera Question

What is the lasgun firing point LoS arc on a Chimera? Can you only fire three of the guns at a time? Or do they have a 360 degree firing arc? It would make sense that say, you could only hit a single target with three lasguns at a time, but I just wanted to clarify this, as the book makes no mention of it.

Thanks in advance, guys.

i believe it follows the same principles of a side sponson weapon. i play it as each side has a 180 degree arc

Actually they are just for show. Standard transport rules apply to them - i.e. half the models on board may fire assault/pistol/rapid fire weapons (counting as defensive weapons for movement purposes?), and a single heavy weapon if you 'open' the top hatch - but you count as open topped for the next turn.

Well actually, The chimera's lasguns are not like that at all, except that they may fire any direction at a target in range. Otherwise they count as 6 lasguns that may be fired by the passengers, that is to say that 6 of the passengers may fire LASGUNS each turn... not "assault/pistol/rapid fire weapons" like you said but specifically lasguns, if you want to fire a bolter or any other weapon the top hatch has to be opened and then yes, you count as open topped... so thats just a waste unless you need to fire a last ditch lascannon or something..

but note that there are 6 lasguns, and it can hold 12 troops. i beleive that they do count as defensive weapons, however, i usually dont use them since they are so weak. also im sure it still counts as a closed hatch when firing.

I just have all of them shoot in any diresction. Anyway you should always use the lasguns if men are inside. Once when the ML abd HB failed against some terminators I remembered men were in their and lasgun shots killed two terminators.

they allow 6 guardsmen to fire using them and still have your spec. weapon fire from the top hatch. They have a side fire arc which is slightly more than 180 degrees (see 40k rules book)

Normal transport rules do not allow half the unit to fire from a transport only one per fire point

hope this helps

Hmmm. They changed that from 3rd edition then and I'm still trying to get to grips with all the rules. Not that I use Chimeras anyway. You can still fire a Heavy Weapon out of the top or rear hatch though, if you're moving slowly enough.
