Default Traitor Guard

I will probably start a traitor guard army sometime, but I wAnt to get the fluff right. What would a traitor regiment not have that other guard have? If anything.

Depends really. I know most Traitor Guard Regiments are without any Imperial Navy stuff (unless the Imperial Navy also turn renegade). So, no Valkyries/Vendettas. Otherwise it's free for all. Oh, except for Commissars unless they become corrupt themselves. But yeah, free for all.

I would say its unlikely that they would have any of the new things from the 5th 'dex, valks and vendetta are from the imperial navy. and the other things are new to the field officialy. so they wound not be supplied to the traitiors.

If a collection of various Guard detachments/divisions/what have you was corrupted, it'd be corrupted regardless of how new the tech is. But yeah, Zen is right that aircraft would be unlikely as they'd lack the means to maintain it without also corrupting the navy.

Is it even possible for Commisars to become corrupt? ;D

Can I just point out that choas have turned titans. Compared to that a few valkyries is nothing, the navy aren't invincible do corruption, they can probably be easily turned witht he traitor regiments.

EDIT: Are they runing to chaos or just going off on their own?

Also commisars could be easily replaced with the FW enforcers. (Chaos commmisar equivalent)
As for the rest, Chaos can pretty much use any vehicle the guard can. Hijacked tanks etc.
Valks I wouldn't really use unless, you just want the model for awesomeness sake :P.

Few and far in-between but it happens often enough.

Yes, Commissars can be represented by such units.

Yeah, they had to turn that Titan Legion crew to Chaos but that's it. They turn a Titan. You have to understand that each Imperial faction are very independent of each other and suspicious of each other. Even though you corrupt faction A, faction B & C are unaffected and are able to defeat faction A because together, faction B & C are more than a match for faction A or faction A itself are unable to attack.

If an Imperial Guard regiment turn to Chaos, they have no interstellar transportation and they're literally stuck on the planet they're on.

If an Imperial Navy Fleet turn to Chaos, they have so little ground forces to occupy and control a planet.

If a Space Marine Chapter turn to Chaos, you have other Space Marine Chapters as well as the Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy to neutralize them.

You would need to plant your agents in and around all the factions of an Imperial Battle Group to get an effective fighting force but that itself is difficult.

I think you need to decide what type of traitor guard as well.
Firstly, there are traitors that turn to chaos. These guys won't have commissars, Navy officers, or many veterans. They won't have multiple rare Leman Russ variants, won't have Stormtroopers (although - these can be called Blood Pact), while conscripts become much more popular.

The second type of traitors are men that are just fed up with how the Imperium runs things. Generally, the entire planet in turn stops paying the tithe, and at the same time overthrow Administration and Ordos offices on the planet.
These armies have almost everything a normal guard regiment would have. Most planet's won't turn without some sort of production capacity anyways. So the ability to replace weapons and even vehicles is a possibility. Their air support will be limited, but not non-existant. Even though the navy isn't there, they probably have some sort of aircraft, even if it's just reserved to a few transports and escort planes.
They will not have stormtroopers, and veterans will be rare. Standard platoons will be the most common in representing the experience of these troops. Commissars won't be anywhere to be found, neither will navy officers. Priests, Astropaths and Psyker's won't be found either.

The choice is up to you goliath! What kind of traitor guard army were you looking at?

I run a traitor guard regiment that's heavily converted. I always feild as may troops as possible (usually around 250 for 2000+ point games) A full conscript squad (50 men) and some heavy artillary in iron warrions colours. Sometimes I also go with a currupted psyker battle squad or two. I did just get a vendetta (valkyrie I will convert) but I plan on making it look like it crashed and has been salvaged.

I hope some of these ideas helped, but as Aftercresent said it really depends on the kind of army you want to feild.

They will be touched by every sort of plauge or disease to help further make them unhappy, all sickness will blight them. They will have almost no tactics, strategies, but lots of machines so that they can atleast stand up to a foe in battle. They are my tar pit against the Terror. They are the bulk of Humanity. They are my Imperial Guard and they will know much fear!"
