If they are the same ranged weapon do they become twin linked?

Only if it is explicitly stated that they do (such as in the case of Tau XV8 weapon systems). IIRC, the Guard Codex has no such explicit statement, so the answer would be 'no'.

The only time you would get an advantage from having two of the same weapon is if you took two power fists. This will give you an extra attack, but cost you a total of 30 points (not worth it). It does make the Imperial Guard one of the only races who actually can benefit from the twin power fists rules though... :P

If you want to think of it as a benefit, 2 ridiculously over priced strength 6 attacks at *gasp* initiative 1!

An extra attack for two Close Combat Weapons, not really worth int on Guard. Marines can do it for 50 points.

If you want to get technical, A marine Assault squad sarge can take two pairs of lightning claws for 60 points. Useful? No, but it can be done

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?
