Default Vox Caster

Ok, I am still trying to find out what a Vox Caster does and are they worth getting. I am hoping that their roll is more of a forward spotter for artillary....

Don't you have the IG codex at hand?

It's pretty clear IMO what they do in game terms...unless you are asking more in terms of background/fluff.

Yes I do have the Codex, but I am not finding anything of use from them. I am wondering if there is a Forward spotter to better the odds of indirect fire? An not master of the fleet or ordinance....

IIRC, the IG don't have Forward Spotters for Artillery, but you could always make a House Rule up for them.

off board artillary strikes, artillary with no line of site, and in having the ability to call in such strikes from off board Basilisks for an example.

The Imperial Guard lost such an ability in the change from 2nd to 3rd Edition. Since then, the closest thing to that has been an Inquisitional or Space Marine Chapter Master's Orbital Bombardment.

If there advantage is superior artillary (which is what I see), than that decision makes VERY little sense. It would make sense to have such ability and the advantage to reroll or reduce the scattering effect.
I guess I will just have to live with it..... :-\

Guard have the capacity to field more Ordnance and more Ordnance Barrage than any other army in the game. Their advantage is not superior artillery, it's superior amounts of artillery.

Point taken, but a greater amount of accuracy would make more sense....
