Default HQ Snipers

Just got the Codex and constructing my army and do not see any HQ snipers as with other Codex's (Eldar is my other Codex). Any insite as to the possiblilities or am I just out of luck....

Well, the guard has tonnes of potential for actual snipers - Ratlings, command squads, special weapon squads.
However, if you need to remove an irritating special character, I would suggest rough riders. Even if the character is hiding in a squad, independant characters can be individually targeted in melee, and even a minimised rough rider squad can deliver 11 S5 I5 Power weapon attacks - enough to kill, or at least hurt, just about any special character you care to mention.
If the character isn't in a squad, then just mow him down with your firepower.
Other than that, maybe marbo - appear 1" away and throw a demolition charge at your troublesome target.
For HQs with a retinue (like ours) then blast templates can quickly whittle down the spare wounds in the squad, allowing the opportunity for firepower once again.

If you want a real HQ sniper get an allied Inquisitor lord which will let you include vindicare Temple Assassin from the Demon Hunters or Witch Hunters codex. The Vindicare Temple Assassin has no targeting restrictions, it can attack any individual model directly ignoring inful saves and stuff, even your own models if you want hence no targeting restrictions. Take out the power fist sergeant in a space marine squad, a heavy weapon from another squad, no problem the Vindicare Assassin can handle it. You can't get a better sniper than that for what you want.

YEP!~ I have seen them in action and thery are VERY impressive, but in my area there are alot if space marines (chaos, space, etc) that I am looking fior something different. Last store ternimate I saw 20 player with 12 of them with versions of the marines. 1 chaos beast, 1 Eldar, 2 JTau, 1 Necom, 1 IG and 2 Wiches.....

sorry to say, but PLEASE improve your grammer, it's becoming diffucult to understand your posts

hmmm on the issue, you cant have a HQ sniper (if by that you mean a commander w/ a sniper rifle :/), BUT, and this is the big but , you CAN have snipers elsewhere, CCS, Ratlings, Spec weapons (mentioned above)

what army do you field? mech, air, footslogging?, reason i ask is 'cos snipers are heavy weapons, pretty much useless in mech or air, as you wait a turn before you use 'em

on a side note, you could convert snipers-give 'em ghillie suits!
