Default Mighty Las guns

before first ranks, second rank, a guardsman rapid firing at spacemarines should kill .11 = 2*.5*.33*.33 marines.

Marines rapid firing at another marine will axe .22 marines.

A marine is more than 3 times as expensive as a guardsman..... so las guns are effective weapons, provided you can keep all of them huddled close enough together to bring their numbers to bear.

Yes, especially when you group them into 20-man squads. I utterly obliterated a team of Stealth Battlesuits with that once.

Well i had a unit of 50 guardsmen (Combined squads) they FRFSRFa squad of terminators (At rapid fire range) so that was 150 shots, (I then did that again with another 50) meaning 300 shots i was rolling in hand fulls of 50 and each time i rolled i only killed 1 terminator! i killed the whole squad in te end, but the captain that was attatched killed a whole 50 troops by making them run and catching them :-[

Haha good old las guns

150 las gun shots should on average inflict 4.17 terminator wounds.

The probability of inflicting only 1 wound or less is 7.73%

Wait...

In your argument your not factoring in the +1 to basically EVERY stat a Marine has over a guardsmen... 3x as much is perfectly balanced.

Yes that one thing is really important to add. Just compairing the weapons and cost of the model holding it will make the lasgun really good. But when adding all the stuff the models them self have will make the SM models much much better. 3+ armour save is the major factor. An imperial guardsman will die from most standard weapons with no armour save allowed, while the Space Marine will have his armour save.
