I've been looking to start playing IG, but every time I look at the list, I can't help but wanting to play mechanized. It would be the only army I'd play that has this much armour, but it always comes down to the same thing... What would be a better way to transport: Chimeras or Valkyries? I've looked at both options, and have made lists for both options, but not sure how I want to play, and would like to decide before purchasing the models.

I'm gonna say that valks have a better survivability than chimeras do. sole reason for me

If money isn't a problem, then I would say Valkyries.

I say if money isn't a problem go Armored fist squads. Chimera's might be more expensive on a point by point basis and you'll have to go with more infantry with the points saved, but I'd say a wall of AV 12 is a very good thing to have.

IF money IS a problem go with valkyries, they eat up points and you can't take as many so you'll actually be saving money on them.

I chose Valkyries, this is because:
I love the fluff
I love the model
It is more survivable
It has more and better weapons.

But if you do any Apocalypse, then either Stormlord, Doomhammer or Banehammer is the way to go.

Me, I'd say chimeras for the rank and file, Valkaries for the more elite units to give them some rapid redeployment.

I use chimeras for my veterans and valks for my stormtroopers

I use chimeras for my elite company of veterans... but that's more for flare and style than anything.

I like Chimera's personally. The fire points are pretty useful, and AV12 to the front is also good. And don't forget that Tech-Priests aren't drilling holes in these Chimera's (Those who know what I'm referring to, that's the general consensus of what happens to them over here =P). It depends really though, you taking Veteran squads or Infantry Platoons, and numbers of Stormtroopers etc.? Put up a sort of rough idea on points and money and it should be easier for us all to help out.
