Default general guard help

i'm getting a battleforce and am thinking of making an army out of that. i was going to roll with two veteran squads, a command squad, and a sentinel. since the battleforce comes with three heavy weapons teams, i was going to incorporate two of them into my vet squads and have the other one sit out. the special and heavy weapons are my problem. i don't know what to put in my squads. also with the sentinel, i was going with armoured as a points filler and because of more options.

so gameplay-wise and fluff-wise, what should i equip my units with. i want weapons that are good in the field and can fit my fluff. i am making an urban fighting cadian regiment. so please, roll in the answers.

1 Company Command Squad upgraded with Carapace Armor/Camo Cloak and Master of Ordnance.

1 Veteran Squad upgraded with Power Fist, 1 Heavy Flamer, 2 Flamers and a Heavy Bolter as well as Grenadiers/Forward Sentries Doctrine

1 Veteran Squad upgraded with Power Fist, 3 Meltaguns and a Lascannon as well as Grenadiers/Forward Sentries Doctrine

1 Armored Sentinel equipped with Plasma Cannon

[hr]

Company Command Squad should just be sitting around (not moving preferably) issuing Orders and unleashing that STR8 AP3 Pie Plate. Veterans can go both Long Range and Short Range engagements. And that Armored Sentinel is to provide that Anti-MEQ that you lack. Power Fists is just in case you got caught up with Power Armored-maniacs such as Space Marines or Eldar Aspect Warriors. You may either go with Carapace Armor or Camo Cloaks depending on how much terrain you usually play with but for fluff purposes, if you're getting the Catachan Battleforce, go with Camo Cloaks. If Cadian, Carapace Armor.

I would try Carapace Armor first then. If that doesn't work, Camo Cloaks. If doesn't work either, I would suggest playing around with which units best works with your strategies. Rinse and repeat.

what about gunnery sergeant bastonne? and are plasma pistols any good? or are they too dangerous? in that case, should i go with bolt pistols for my leaders? and are plasma guns worth it? i was planning to keep a medic in my command squad, so he could reroll his saves in case he got hot.

For low point-games, forget about having any Special Characters. Too expensive and not cost-efficient.

I would only recommend Plasma Pistols/Guns if the Gunner himself is expendable i.e. normal Guardsman but for Officers/Sergeants with a better Ld, then I recommend against it. Or the Plasma Gunner/Pistolier is in a Command Squad with Carapace Armor and/or have a Medic in the same squad.

And Medic doesn't "re-roll" Saves. You just get an additional "Save" e.g. the FNP. So yes, you get your Armor Save then the FNP.

Commissars = GET THEM! 35 Points for Stubborn, Ld9 and Summary Execution. Pretty good bargain if you ask me.

I wouldn't put Infantry Squads in Chimeras as they're much better combined together into a 50-man Combined Infantry Squad. Veteran Squads, however, are more vulnerable e.g. don't have bodies to absorb the wounds before they're completely dead. Chimeras will give them the added protection.

I would say if you got extra points, go ahead. I normally use my Regimental Advisers as Extra Wounds, truth to be told.
