Default SIGAFH?

I've seen this used on the forums fairly often and I have no idea what it is other than being guard related. What does the acronym stand for?

I've seen it too, so I google'd it and it came up as Shooty Imperial Guard Army From Hell.

Generally, the term refers to an army that puts out so many weapons and bodies that it can almost literaly stay in place and just fire. This means less vehicles, and more focus on heavy and special weapons. It's a very dangerous army to face for annihilation.

I've always understood it to be focused on mass lasguns. Heavy weapons feature as anti-tank but the rest is based on "roll enough and eventually you'll die". Also, while somewhat nasty in Annihilation, templates, weapons with better range, or heavy transports (battlewagon express, Deathwing in Land Raiders) steamroll them, literally in the case of deff rolla battlewagons.

Roots of SIGAFH.

As many big guns as possible. in the new codex it is easy to over do it though.

Overkill is a myth. TWENTY ONE LASCANNONS!!!!!! OR rather just a focus on Heavy weapons team special weapons and massed hoards of infantry. Basically get the most guns big and small on the field possible.

SIGAFH is not just mass lasguns, it's mass HW teams. Heavy transports and templates really don't have that much effect on them. Cover is very easy to find nowadays, and with the guard's ability to go to ground and then get back up on their turn, you really can't expect to outshoot them in any way.

Those heavy transports won't last long against multiple twin-linked lascannon rounds. In my 2k SIGAFH list I've got 14 lascannons and 13 autocannons.

I really thought sigfah armies were just armies that concentrated on shooting exclusively, I would think a sigfah army would still include three barebones russes.

I doubt it - SIGAFH armies tend to have better ways to squeeze out the firepower.

SIGAFH is pure firepower. No movement, no assault, nothing but a wall of bullets.

Odds are, SIGAFH will not use Russes - indirect-fire is more useful to a SIGAFH list.

What about manticores wargamer? Cheap(ish), average of 2 templates at extremely high str. Still your only looking at the price of a griffin for each template, might be easier just to go with griffins. But are any vehicles really SIGAFH. I always saw SIGAFH done as a mass wall of heavy weapons and troops?
