Default Models with carapace armor.

I was just wondering what other people use to model carapace armor so that I can decide how to model my army-to-be.

I've only seen it done with Green Stuff unless you wanna buy Stormtroopers as basic troops.

And I can't imagine you'd want that.

I've cut a square and a trapeze from thin plasticard and stuck it on my cadian command squad and grenadiers just bellow the abdomen plate of the flak armour sort of like the forgeworld death corp's setup: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/dkgren.htm I've also seen folk simply paint the armour a different colour or stick on bluetack kneepads.

Surely you jest? Who would treat a model that way?

I just use Cadian models. They're already wearing some sort of Carapace Armor.

I've seen someone use IG tank treads. Can't remember how it looked though.

I used the guard tank treads on catachan models, I use one of the 2 part treads as a breast plate (on squad leaders and vets I used empire knight shields) and 1 each of single pieces as shoulder pads (linking with the breatsplate, some filing is required), back packs complete the look of bulkyness, I really am to lazy to post picks, also this method only works well on guardsmen holding a lasgun in one hand.

I tend to use Marine Shoulder Pads, or the mini that came out a bit ago that looked like they had metal plates on under their shirts.

I just go with the line that the material of the Carapace armour is much stronger to that of Flak armour.

same, i run regular models, or, sometimes my Veterans have flak, but sometimes i have spare points and upgrade carapace, i dont care to change the figs. sure i rarely play tournies with strict WYSIWYG, but thats how i do it in regular friendly games. if i was to convert a stormie squad however, i might consider adding a few plates.
