Default The new IG. Harder than it looks.

So the new codex brings us IG players a heck of alot of joy. It is well structured, well balanced and has the possibility to be soft as fetta cheese or as hard a blind pimple.

But. There is no glaring 'lash/blast/ combo in the new dex. Nothing to massivly cheese up. The breadiest combinations include allies so far. Everyone was saying 9 lemen russ' would be common place. Not when it is minimum 1350 points!.

What are your thought on the balance of this new codex?

Personally I feel it is well built, has enough options that no two guard armies will be the same and best of all. Isn't 'Codex Cadians' like the SM dex was 'Codex Ultramarines'. We have flavor and we have style.

I'm really pleased with everything, except the vox-casters. The whole purpose of the codex was to give the guard more flexibility, but now they have to hug their CO like they're breastfeeding.

My absolute favorite aspect is the fact that there are so many scoring units the guard can bring ot bear, which is great and very fluffy.

CO doesn't grant leadership to nearby units anymore - there is no more leadership buggle... no need to hug other than for orders, but 12" is a fairly large range. Spread that out further with a second Company Command.

As to the new IG Codex, I like to echo JD's views. Nothing overly powerful, you can't really do a cheesed-up combo like Lash-Prince or overly powerful built like Nob Bikerz. Things like AP3 Hellguns are balanced out by the weapon's Strength itself which 3 which is kinda pathetic as well as a Storm Trooper cost as much as a Space Marine (more or less). The Punisher is overrated; short range, AP- and its BS3. Colossus can lob AP3 Large Blast templates that ignores cover but it's balanced out that it must be fired indirectly and it's Strength 6 so it can instant-kill multi-wounded MEQs. I could go on but you guys get the point.

I'm really enjoying the task of creating my list, just because of that fact! No there is no overly powerful list, and there is still a lot of viable variety! For example, one could go for lots of combined squads, reducing KP's, and all the other benefits, but then also reduce the objective holding capacity of it.

Not nessesarily. New BOB FAQ says 1 unit can hold multiple objectives.

With a couple of casualties, that line'l be pretty messed up. sack a objective, or squad coherency.

By the way, where can I get that FAQ?
