Default New Toys - Using the Valkyrie

Heya folks!

I was making some new IG lists based on the rumors floating on the
internet, mainly concentrating around the new valkyrie model as it's
the very reason why I'll start my IG army.

Anyways, this is the rumored loadout for a Valkyrie;

Valkyrie,

Squadron of 1-3,
Skimmer, Fast, Scout, Deep Strike
Transports 12 models, but not Ogryns

Multilaser, 2 Hellstrike Missiles,
Extra Armour, Searchlight

Change Multilaser to Lascannons
Change Hellstrike Missile for 2 Multiple Rockets Pods
Door Heavy Bolters for

“Grav Chute Insertion”
Embarked Troops may DS at any point in its movement, re-rolling
scatter, but more than 12" and they take a dangerous terrain check.

Hellstrike Missile
Multiple Rocket Launcher

Alas, I'm interested to hear what are you thoughts about the unit, how
would you use it, and most of all, are some of you guys doing valkyrie
mounted armies?

Hi, I've edited your post as you are not allowed to include points costs or stats. It's against the forum rules and can get the site in trouble with the Games Workshop IP Policy.

Ah ok.
I was under the impression that the forum policies regulated
only the official point costs wasn't aware that it also included
the rumored point costs.

My bad.

Cheers,
HraTaika

It's a confirmed rumour - now a fact. As it was in the leaked GW France Summary Sheet, so we do have to censor it on this board. My apologies, but I think others should still get the gist of this thread and be able to respond.

I plan on picking up two of them. One for my Kasrkin squad and one for some guardsmen to hold far away objectives. I'll outflank with them and come in on the sides, dropping some lovely meltagun shots on various things. My loadout will mostly likely include lascannons in place of the multilaser, to use them as a fast way to get behind enemy tanks and give some twinlinked lascannon love.

I plan on cramming as many of them as possible into my army... after all, the more plastic Valkyries I field, the less Elysians I have to buy

This is interesting I'm currently building up an IG army but I think I might put it on hold for the moment till I get a look at the rules for the Valkyrie. Out flanking the enemy to objectives or dropping some heavily armed troops on top of his week points could make for an interesting game not to mention the Valkyries could probably hang about and cause some trouble

You can pretty much guarantee that the Valkyrie will the the highest priority target when it enters play. Mostly just because it's new and your opponent won't know what to expect, diverting a lot of firepower at it. I'll love this because vehicles pretty much only exist in my army to draw fire hehe. I figure if I can outflank and move 2 feet to drop that squad off somewhere useful, then the Valkyrie has served it's purpose and any kills it gets are just bonus. I mean it only costs 100 points, which isn't that much more than a Chimera now.

I will also try like hell to drop into cover, since I'm taking a dangerous test anyways, why not? I figure I'll include 1 in my 1k lists and 2 in my 1500+

I like your style man I was thinking the same thing losing the door bolters would be the first thing I'd do. I still haven't decided on the armament I'd like multiple rocket pods and the multi laser would be great for harassing troops but as much as I hate the las cannon the Valkyrie could make a good tank hunter

I think i'll use it to drop some Stormies on an objective. If the vendetta has transport capacity then i will probably use that instead of the Valkyrie ( 3 lascannons )
