Hmm, resin soaked BDU material would be good. A few washes of brown or green ink (dullcoting before or after possibly) and it should mold to the shoulders very well. (It'll look nice too).

Could you use those wood elf capes from Fantasy? And mix them with your own models?

problem with wood elf capes is that no one has any spare and they have bows and quivers on them. I'm thinking maybe Empire outrider capes. Or highelf spearmen capes.

Failing that I might cut up some BDU and ink it then wash it in pva and use that.

Well, you could get WE capes cheap on several bitstores online...
Also, Bartertown is useful.

But I'd think greenstuff is the easiest choice, if you have skills in using it.

I have a poorhammer solution. I did it with cadians but there's no reason that it shouldn't work with those tanith guys. Here's what I did...

Cut some strips of tissue paper into cloak-sized strips (I can't remember the dimensions I used, but I think they were in the neighborhood of 3" by 1")

Combined some white glue and water in a bowl. Then stick it in the microwave for around 20 seconds or until the glue becomes soft. Once the glue is softened, stir the solution until you get a very thin, watery glue.

Now dip the tissue paper strips into the glue solution and coat well. Shake off any excess and put the cloak on the backof the model. Push the top edge of the cloak around the collar of the guardsmen to make it look like its attached via clasp. You can style the cloak how you like after that (billowing out, pressed against the back of the model or wrapped around him).

Let the cloaks dry overnight then paint as normal.

I'll post some pics if I get time when I get home.
