Default Doctrines

I'm building army lists to determine how much my costs will be to start my second army (Catachan Imperial Guard) and I've come accross a wording issue. Most doctrines say any Imperial Guard Squad may take this doctrine or that one. Does this mean any unit that has infantry models, or only Troop selections (meaning I can't put them on my Special Weapons Support Squad). I would like to assume that it means I can, but I'm not 100% certain.

If it says Guard Infantry, then it is the definition on the page before the doctrines, right beside the restricted troops area.

If it says guard infantry squad, it means infantry platoons and armoured fists.

Guard Infantry, you mean? Any Doctrines that states Guard Infantry means Command Squads and attached Advisors, Fire Support Support Squads, Anti-Tank Support Squad, Mortar Support Squad, Special Weapon Support Squad, Hardened Veterans, Infantry Platoon and Armored Fist Squads can take the relevant doctrine.

It's on Page 55 of the Codex: Imperial Guard. Above the Restricted Troops entry.

Thank-you for the quick response. I've been reading over and over again, but it must of slipped past my eyes. I try my best not to ask newbie questions.

Asking is a moment's shame, not knowing is a lifetime of shame. Just remember that
