Default Xeno-Hunters

I have a couple of quick questions about the Xeno-Hunters doctrine. If I've missed it elsewhere, please point me to it (this is just a quick query).

Are you allowed to take the Xeno-Hunters doctrine multiple times for different races? And do Eldar and Dark Eldar count as two seperate races? (I'm assuming yes, but it's always good to make sure due to lack of clarity in the codex).

I have been pondering the forces of the Ordo Xenos, and then thought about allying Inquisition with Imperial Guard using the Xeno-Hunters doctrine. Obviously this would represent a trained military force (replacing the Storm Troopers) that has been trained to specifically fight the Xenos. Limitted choices are down to Inquisitorial forces. Then a Deathwatch team could be allied onto the HQ, and an Inquisitor into the Elite slot, and possibly standard Storm Troopers into troops if needed.

Also while I'm on the topic of Xenos military, reading Eisenhorn where he uses the Gudrunite Rifles, I believe it states that they wore a red and gold uniform, or something like that. Is there any specification as to what was coloured what (gold armour and red cloth?) or the Regiment standard?

Well if you read the description on the Reference sheet for Xeno fighter, Eldar and Dark eldar are combined together:
Quote:
Against either Orks, Eldar(Including Dark Eldar) or Tyranid,[...]
It doesn't include Tau, but Tau were added in 3rd ed after the IG codex was written IIRC.

As for taking it multiple time, nothing seems to indicate that you either can or cannot do so in the Reference sheet.

See page 55 of Codex: IG for the rules governing the use of doctrines. The bit that answers your question is the paragraph immediately after the bullet points: "Unless specifically stated, doctrines cannot be taken more than once and never 'stack' in any way." And as pointed out by Boneguard, the actual entry for Xeno-Fighters makes specific reference to Dark Eldar: "The permissible types are Orks, Eldar (including Dark Eldar), and Tyranids."

So in short, the answers to your questions can be found by actually reading the rules concerning the use of doctrines and by reading the rules for the specific doctrine in question...where one might expect to find them. And that's what you might call 'clarity'. :P

Another choice for an Ordo Xenos IG army would be the Elysian D-99 detachment listed in Imperial Armour 4. They are in fluff a drop troop regiment permanently attached to the Ordo Xenos, and specialise in Tyranid hunting.

Regarding the Gudrunite Rifles, I have no direct reference, nor have I even read Eisenhorn, but I rather expect the cloth would be red and the armour gold. My reasoning being that unless you hit a lot of retro club scenes, you don't see a whole lot of gold cloth.

Haha thanks. I feel a bit silly now for not looking at that passage more carefully before asking... :-[
I was also wondering whether it was saying that you could take Dark Eldar as one of the options (as in both types of Eldar) or whether they were combined with normal Eldar. I guess that's been answered though.
And I suppose it's "completely unacceptable" to call them Ordo Xenos military forces and swap the Xeno-Hunter doctrine around for relevant opponents? :P

I know about the Elysian D-99, I was just wondering about creating a conventional Xenos-Hunter list.

That's what I assume to, but I don't know if there were more colours or only detailing was done in gold or how it worked. From what I recall, I don't think they're ever clearly described, but then again I only paid interest to them after I finished reading it.

I think you've answered your own question there. The codex couldn't really be much clearer on that particular issue unless a big hand were to reach out of the page and grab a fistful of your shirt as you read it.
