Default your favourite weapon

as it says, and by no means is it limited to the powerful guns of the guard, but the close combat too [don't laugh, your little guys might cry.]
my personal fav' would be the sniper rifle, for these reasons:
coolness: the sniper's are always some of the most characterful in an army, you can keep your hero of the imperium, you can have your absulotely bad@$$ sergenat, but none come close to the solo sniper, the madman, the loner ect. it's just a pity the only way i can get said solo nut job is by counting him as a vincicare... oh well.
useful: well, it's always good to be able to pin those deadly advancing CC units. unfortunetly, some of the best are fearless...
lucky: hehe, i've had a few tank shots go very well... stupid predator...

so, i ask yee fellow nutters of the imperium, what is your favourite?

I would have to say the grenade launcher.

It fits the U.S. Army theme of my army, since back in the 60s every Infantry squad had a grenadier, it damages high toughness units fairly well with the krak grenade, and can do damage against swarms with the frag grenade. And on top of all this, it's an assault weapon.

Demolisher cannon, baby. There's a distinct appeal to its horrifyingly violent simplicity. Some weapons are precise and deadly in the right hands, some glow with arcane magiks, others utilise alien technologies or harness the energies of the warp itself, but the Demolisher cannon chucks armour-piercing shells the size of dustbins filled with more high-explosive than the RAF dropped on the third reich.

  • Kills Daemon princes? - Check

  • Kills God? - Well...he's out of range

Demolisher Cannon. Does what it says on the tin.

The humble lasgun. *Waits for laughter to die down...* But seriously, for when you dont care about results but just want to have more guns than the other guy, the lasguns your first last and only choice. Throw enough shit as the wall and somethings gonna stick. ;D

I've always liked the Heavy Bolter and the Autocannon. Dependable weapons that are not useless because of our low ballistic skill - and are considerably good against most basic units.

Uncheck.

4 wounds, un-instantkillable. By the time you're in range you have a max of two wounds off it before it crams is fist/axe/sword/head/whatever through your lovely tank.

I like the Demo Charge. All the explosive power of a battle cannon with the fun of a 50% chance of blowing yourself up.

I've always been partial to melta weaponry. It is hands down my favorite troop based weapon. My army lists tend to be heavy on meltas too. They are just beautiful for burning through tanks, melting the face off big uglies, and they are an assault weapon so you can move and cook.

The fact that Jurgen from the Cain novels loved toting one around as well was just icing on the cake.
